I've got no reason
But that I must
Maybe I feel
Like I've been gathering dust
I must leave this harbour for the sea
I'm too young to settle down and make a home
But I don't know where I'm wanting to be
I just know I have to be there alone

Stole my time, all my time
Spend my time for you

Pale winter sun
Is beating the ground
Why am I throwing away
The best thing that I've found
My young heart's in tatters and I'm sure
That it will be a long time healing
It's so hard to see what I'm doing this for
When loneliness is all that I'm feeling

Stole my time, all my time
Spend my time for you

Now the wind it is blowing
Blowing leaves from the trees
I've got no use knowing
That with time it will ease
I don't know where I'm going
Hope I get there soon
Cos my soul is hollow
As the sorrowful moon
Na na na na...

General CommentThis song is about breaking up with someone b/c he's young and need to discover who you he is in the
first part. It then goes into that "oh no, what did i do" phase after the relationship ends", where he
says "Why am I throwing away the best thing I found". Then he's genuinely distraught and miserable
"leaves are blowing wind through the trees, i got no use knowing with time it will ease". think its about breaking it
off with someone and coming to grips with it. I lvoe the lyrics and how he represents the different
seasons that are passing such as (summertime harbour & sea, falltime leaves blowing, winter pale winter sun, etc.) i feel by the end he is OK, he knows who he is b/c of it and he knows they'll finally be OK even though its over.

Awesome song. My favourite, been through it.

General CommentI was dating a woman for 2 years, and had been listening to David Gray for years before that. But in the last year or less of our relationship David Gray was on repeat, and what i didnt realise until i actually looked at the lyrics, was this song was exactly how i felt in our relationsip....it blew me away. I love almost every one of his songs. i have all the albums. Its refreshing to listen to an artist that puts meaning into his songs.

General CommentWell the Lyrics are incomplete... The missing part is put below:

Oh the night is raining on my weary head
    taking me back

See the sun spread wings of gold
    as the dawn unfurls
hear the song that the moon sings
    to the darkened world
    Feel the fire lighting
    in the bitter cold
    It's the light that shines
through the windows of your soul
    Windows of your soul

The Song gives me a clearer feeling of whats it like to be in a relationship where you feel you are treading water and going no-where and you know you have to end the relationship and the (last verse I added here) is more like a consolation to the person being dumped. Its more along the lines of its not you but its me type thing.

    Absolutely fantastic..
