"Ant Farm" as written by and Mark O. Everett....
Hate a lot of things
But I love a few things
And you are one of them

Hard to believe
After all of these years
But you are one of them

Walk down the street
I'm thinking:
Everybody move along
I've got a sad-hearted needing
To belong

Nevertheless
It's all the mess you made
But I can let it go

Walk down the street
I'm thinking:
Look at all the ants in a farm
I've got a sad-hearted feeling
To harm

Hate a lot of things
But I love a few things
And you are one of them

General CommentE is basically watching the world around him and sees it as an ant farm which he isn't part of. He is just looking at everything and feels out of place. He has a yearning to be with someone.

General CommentI dont think its about his gf, honestly, i think its about God.

"hard to believe after all of this time that you are one of them," he tried to hate God like he hates everything else, but he gave up on that.

"it's all the mess you made, but I can let it go."
That's what I think. The world is all the mess God made, but get over it.

General CommentThis song (and several more by Eels) is great background noise for some of my more misanthropic moods. Sometimes you just have to say F#%$ it!

General CommentIt's not about a girlfriend, it's not about himself, and it's not about God. It's about his mother... But whoever it's about, it's just a wonderful song...

General CommentYeah, in his memoir E confirms that this song is about his mom:

"...It felt good to acknowledge my complicated relationship with my mom, but also to know that I didn't have to be mad at her forever for some of my problems in life that may have resulted from my childhood."
