Well I'd like to take you as I find you
Imagine our clothes are on the floor
Feel my caress so soft and gentle
So delicate you cry for more
But you know baby
You know baby does it right
And you know baby does it right

Universe inside of your heart
You gotta let me know
So you can be free baby
You wanted it so much
And now that it's over
You don't know what you want

Put time in a capsule
Two minds consensual
Entwined to perfection
If we could

Cuddle up close
Lay on my chest now
Listen my heart beats coming down
If you get tired, you close your eyes now
When you wake up I won't be found
Cause I know baby
I know you're the nervous kind
With so much going on in your mind

Universe inside of your heart
You gotta let me know
So you can be free baby
You wanted it so much,
And now that it's over
You don't know what you want

But let me tell you that, this time,
I'm gonna make you mine
(I won't let you go)
Cause I know, this time
I'm gonna make sure I look out for me

Cause you know baby
Well you know baby does it right
And you know baby does it right
You will only end up lost in loneliness
And wake up with the words already
On your lips
So I'll let you go, baby, oh baby
So I'll let you go

Universe inside of your heart
You gotta let me know
So you can be free baby
You wanted it so much,
And now that it's over
You don't know what you want

    Song Meaning

I think it's about being in a relationship where the other person isn't fully committed.

Boy wants to have a relationship with girl.

But girl doesn't know if she wants to have a relationship with him. The girl has so much going on in her mind and the universe in her heart because she is conflicted about what she wants. If she could only figure out what she wants, she could tell the boy and then be free from being uncertain. She thought she wanted a relationship but she doesn't know for sure.

Boy knows she is conflicted so he's going to let her go and not put his heart into the relationship because she won't commit to him. He's going to look out for himself and at least have sex but not stay the morning since he doesn't want to get involved with someone who doesn't know if they want him or not. He knows she will end up lost in loneliness but you know, that's just what happens when she can't make up her mind to be with him or not.

    My Interpretation

I tend to agree with kinnikuman.

The problem is the interpretation of the sentence "You wanted it so much and now that it's over. You don't know what you want."

To me I interpret it as both just meet up (I'd like to take you as I FIND you) and they instantly have a great chemistry. It seemed the girl has invited the boy to her room. But as the night getting late, the girl still don't want to open up her heart. She is kind of nervous, may be because she just got over a bad relationship.

So the guy is like saying: You should open the universe inside your heart to me so then you could feel more relax. I know that you want me so much. I know that deep down in your heart you really want to believe in me / this relationship. If you still aren't sure, you better get sleep. But let me tell you, when you wake up later, I will be already gone. And it would be too late to say all the words that you should have told me tonight. You will lost in loneliness (you want me so much, and now I'm gone, you don't know what you want anymore).

I think this song has a little more to it then just sex. I think that it has to deal with the emotions of two people who are in love when they make love for the first time. Obviously, he is trying to reassure this girl that he knows she is nervous, but she should just be herself, and that she has nothing to worry about because he loves her. He tells her to just lose track of time (“put time in a capsule”), and to get lost in the moment.

I do also think that it's more than just one night stand sex. I think it is so much deeper, to me at least. I think he wants her, she wants to make love to her, but he really wants to share the whole thing about it...and he is treating her right. It's one of those songs in which you can just get lost, forget about everything else -along with Insatiable, by Darren himself-; and it has such a special meaning to me...because back then I wanted so much someone that I knew would hurt me so deeply...but still gave in...and so I kept -and keep- telling to myself, ok, if we're goint to be together again, THIS TIME, I'm going to take care of myself and my emotions...I won't let you break me again.

I definately agree that there's much more to this song than just sex, but I don't think it's all romance and sunshine either. It took me a long time to come to any conclusions about "Universe" because by the end of the song you're kind of lost about what just happened. Here's my opinion of what's happening in the song...

Clearly, the girl in the song is a virgin and she and the guy have been in a sexual limbo for a quite a while. What leads me to believe that is the fact that he says "You wanted it so much and now that it's over...". So the guy is trying to coax and reassure her that he'll be gentle and that it will be special and he'll take care of her. But afterward you're left to wonder if the girl wasn't just played by the guy. It sounds almost as if he's trying to tell her how she's going to feel in order to sort of pull a disappearing act after they finally make love. He says "You will only end up lost in loneliness" and then "So I'll let you go", which leads to the speculation that he got what he wanted from her and now he's leaving. Playing a classic mindgame by turning her fragile thoughts into something that works to his benefit.

So basically, we could all be fooled! lol. I always wondered if the guy in this song wasn't just a sweet and gentle guy, that perhaps he was a smooth talker with ulterior motives. Either way, it enhances the sexiness of the song. That the girl lost her virginity to a mysterious guy who vanished into the night miraculously without breaking her heart in the process.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
