Love is a stranger in an open car
To tempt you in and drive you far away

Love is a stranger in an open car
To tempt you in and drive you far away

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

Love is a danger of a different kind
To take you away and leave you far behind
And love love love is a dangerous drug
You have to receive it and you still can't get enough of the stuff

It's savage and it's cruel and it shines like destruction
Comes in like the flood and it seems like religion
It's noble and it's brutal, it distorts and deranges
And it wrenches you up and you're left like a zombie

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

It's guilt edged, glamorous and sleek by design
You know it's jealous by nature
False and unkind
It's hard and restrained
And it's totally cool
It touches and it teases
As you stumble in the debris

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

This is my favorite Eurythmics song personally to me love inst the simple romance novels or happy ever afters. There is a darker side, obsession, lust and desire. We say these elements are sex not love, but these elements are what makes love so exciting so thrilling true love needs obsession or else its comfort. "Love is a stranger in an OPEN car to tempt you in and drive you far away". and i want you.

Thats gilt-edged, not guilt edged... but this is an awesome song. I love the way her voice sounds in this one.

This song is about what love is. As society progresses and women reach parity in the work force, there is less 'need' for her to remain married. We're no longer concerned about the survival of the human race, that's for sure. So, now we're left with.. just love which, in a romantic sense, is a fairly recent invention. Marriage is no longer about need or survival... they're not arranged. We rely on 'love' to keep us together. The end result, folks move to Splitsville before you know it. You can't own people based on emotion.

I think this song is about the danger of sex compared to love

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
