"Tear It Down" as written by and Elliott/collen/savage/clark....
You got the look of a howlin' wolf
I like it
The kind of eyes that could start a fire
Yes, I like it
A streetwise dynamo, I switch you on
And I watch you go
A thrill to touch, you're so hot
I'm coming for you ready or not

(BRIDGE:)
I'm gettin' ready -
Living on the edge of a dream
I'm gettin' ready -
Oh, switch on your lovin' machine

(CHORUS:)
Tear it down
There's got to be a better way
Tear it down
I can't wait another day
Tear it down
There's got to be a better way
Tear it down
If only you could stay
All night long

I'm on fire, you're all ice
Once too much is twice as nice
Get tough, fools luck
One bite and I'm hooked
A black cat with a silver tongue
A quick lick and you're gone
One kiss, it hots up
Too close ain't close enough

(repeat BRIDGE & CHORUS)

(repeat BRIDGE & CHORUS)

(repeat CHORUS)

My InterpretationI interpret the song to be about a guy who meets a girl and then lusts for her, can't have her but needs her touch and feel. They then "tear down" the borders between them and finally become "intimate" with each other where she plays hard to get and then he continues to go after her and the cycle begins again. Just a great hard hitting song.

General CommentUNBELIEVEABLE!! This song has been posted for 4 years and NO posts yet??? Good god... Well this has got to be in my top 5 fav Def Lep songs.

I first heard this when Def Lep played it on MTV Video awards in 88 or 89. It was cool because it was an unknown song at the time (this was before it was released on the following Adrenalize album). I think they were just tired of playing all of the monster Hysteria hits and wanted to offer up something new. I believe it was also the last televised performance with Steve Clark.

General CommentYeah, this song was the last time Steve ever performed live on TV. An awesome song, though. It's m favorite off of Adrenalize.
