Jenny, so many times I tried to get away
But you kept following me all over town
I'll display it, there's no way to say it
I don't just want you,

I just don't want you around,
I don't want you around,
You follow me around
It's really bringing me down
I don't want you around

When it was time to go I had nothing to say
Don't you look at me,
Don't you look at me that way
"I love you!" Oh, really? Please go away

What gave you the idea?
Get it out of your head
You follow us around
We're not the Grateful Dead

I wanted to be friends but you wanted more
So, like I told you before
I don't want you around

NOFX did it, Letters to Cleo did it (SUCKED HARD, NOT A GOOD COVER AT ALL), and Propagandi also did it. The song, like I against I said was origianally done by cheap trick, thats the best verson yet in my opinion.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
