"You Must Love Me" as written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice....
Where do we go from here?
This isn't where we intended to be
We had it all
You believed in me, I believed in you
Certainties disappear
What do we do? For our dream to survive?
How do we keep, all our passions alive
As we used to do?

Deep in my heart, I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess, what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me, you must love me
You must love me

Why are you at my side?
How can I be, any use to you now?
Give me a chance, and I'll let you see how
Nothing has changed

Deep in my heart, I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess, what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me, you must love me
You must love me

Song MeaningYou Must Love Me-Madonna's most beautiful song ever! So much ache, emotion, feeling, sadness and love in her Beautiful Evita/W.E. Detroit Voice. A ballad that ultimately is a benediction for and to all of us. That Benediction, Amen and Ray of Light-is Madonna. Evita will always be Madonna's best role and You Must Love Me is the ultimate proof of Madonna's Talent and Brilliance. Beautiful bang-up job, Evita Madge! Madonna/Evita Forever!

General CommentI love this song. It played a beautiful part in this movie. If you've seen Evita, then you'd know a little more about what it means.. It's sort of her dying, and she's telling her husband that she can't do anything for him anymore at all, so why does he still care for her? Then she realizes that he loves her. Beautiful.

My InterpretationI love this song! I believe that, in the context of the musical, Evita is singing this in the sense that she has never really loved anyone or been loved by anyone in that way, the line 'How can I be any use to you now' suggests that she thinks that no one would love her for any reason other than to use her, as that is the reason she pretends to love people. When she says 'You must love me', she realizes that actually it must be because he genuinely loves her.
