"I" as written by Berry Gordy Jr, Deke Richards, Freddie Perren and Alphonso James Mizell....
I am seeing tunnel vision in a world that's dark and cold,
I cannot believe how much I've changed since the days of old,
I know it's temporary but
I need to focus straight,
I cannot believe I lost control of my fate,
I need forgiveness from the people I truly care about,
I need support behind my back to help me spit it out
I am gonna win,
I can't afford to blow this one,
I hate myself sometimes,
I love myself,
I need this way of life because it holds me
Contradiction's the way of life
Happiness is wealthiness is healthy now
I've made it through those lies and deceit,
I think what's done is done and I can't complain anymore
I am sure now that I've found myself again it feels great
I can't believe I'd lost control of my fate

General Commentthis is a great song to listen to when you're really confused about yourself, because its all about contridictions in how you view yourself and your current situation. its so good.

General CommentI really like this song. It's exactly how i feel a lot of the time.
As for it's meaning, I think it's about how you hate the way you are but you don't change because you don't know any other way to be. I hope that makes sense.

General CommentIt's like he's finally realizing that how much self love he DOES have is equally choked by the negative feels toward himself. He loves himself sometimes and he hates himself sometimes. It's all the same- and its the normal feelings when you get disapointed. You will always disapoint yourself, and hes showing everyone that with this song. that your not perfect, and that its okay to hate yourself--but to first make sure that you know who your hating! he says "i think whats done is done and i cant complain, anymore" is sort of telling himself to get over his hate. he cant complain because he has it good, very good.

General Commenti was just listening to that song and come to think of it the way he sings it, its like he doesnt establish weather its "i hate myself sometimes....i love myself" or "i hate myself.....sometimes i love myself" so he leaves that to be discovered from the rest of the album

General CommentMore than him having it good. I think it's like it's in the past. Dwelling on it, won't do anything but make him feel worse. You have move on and learn from your mistakes. And it's okay to not like yourself sometimes. It's stepping back from your perception and bettering yourself. Realizing your not what you thought, and realizing their is alot of room for growth. This song is beautiful it's melodic and then hard and it's like every inch of emotion he's feeling, you feel. Let yourself feel let yourself love let yourself hate. Emotions aren't supposed to make sense and it lets you know you're alive.... finding yourself thru all the drama all the bullshit knowing who you are... and Knowing what you have..and knowing how to feel.
