"Nervous Bride" as written by and Jason Molina....
The women are dressed up and they are up to no good
You're dressed up for liberation
You flash that fire flag you fly above
The bright hot sails of your eyes

They say vaguely goodbye
They say vaguely goodbye

There is a long delay in our words
Then there are no words
And I lay down tonight as nervous as a bride

She's not nervous but she tries
She's not nervous but she tries

And it's vaguely goodbye
And it's vaguely goodbye
And it's vaguely goodbye

General Commentmy favourite songs song i think. not really sure what it's about, but i love "nervous as a bride, shes not but she tries" line and image.
Perhaps it's about a prostitute, or have i just made a fool of myself :) If it is, the irony of "nervous as a bride" makes it an even better song...

General Commenti think this one's about being on the rebound but not knowing if it's such a good idea or not.

vaguely seeing the "goodbye" in advance (like a red flag above the sails), seeing women dressed up and "up to no good," etc.
anticipating trouble is something that comes up in a lot of molina's writing and i think this one is a pretty good example.
