This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
First off, this song is just a clever parody of Firestarter by Prodigy. Second, this song is dedicated to an obsessed female fan that Richard encountered awhile back, and at one point she said "i want your soul." So Richard decided to make this song about her.
You're wrong. This is not a parody of the Prodigy in any way, shape or form. Richard David James has said this about the track, "Come to Daddy came about while I was just hanging around my house, getting pissed and doing this crappy death metal jingle."<br /> <br /> So your theory about it being a dedication to an obsessed fan is false.
a really good song, but the video freaked me out so much...heh heh.
How is this a parody of Firestarter? To me it sounds nothing like it, neither does it have anything to do with Prodigy.. Anyway this song is good, the video is indeed freaky, but it can't beat the Windowlicker video.. Now that is just plain strange.
I say 10/10 for Come To Daddy and 'toolapc' can suck my hairy ****!
Well.....when you hear the song and the rhythm it has....kinda reminds you of Prodigy Firestarter....not much though....yeah.....just a million times weirder :)
they made a vidoe for it? im gonna have to find that shit
This song truly freaks me out! (I guess that's why I like it so much)
It isn't a parody of Firestarter, it's a parody of Breathe. Download Prodigy - Breathe and you'll see.
Not to be mean but....i believe a few of you need to look up the word 'Parody' in the dictionary. If anything it may sound similar to these songs but so do other songs in the same genre which is why its called a genre... but yeah....this video freaks me out...demon midgets and old screaming scary ladies. The midgets, however, could possibly be parodys. Anybody remember Joe-C?
I Would Have To Say "Come To Daddy" Was Written, As Well As Many Other Aphex Twin Songs, To Scare The Life Out Of You. By The Way, Parody- (par·o·dy) 1 : a literary or musical work in which the style of an author or work is closely imitated for comic effect or in ridicule 2 : a feeble or ridiculous imitation. Get It Straight People... And Yes I Agree With What Disintegrator Says, Prodigy And Aphex Twin Are In The Same Musical Genre(Although Aphex Twin Is Infinately More Disturbing), One Or Two Of The Songs Are Bound To Sound The Same As Each Other.
