"Rock Star" as written by Dorian Michelle Hardnett, Christopher A. Stewart, Thabiso N...
Well I went to school, oh
Well I went to school, ha ha
Well I went to school in Olympia
Everyone's the same
What do you do
With a revolution?

When I went to school in Olympia, ya, ya, ya
And everyone's the same
We look the same
We talk the same
Yeah
Don't you please
Make me real, fuck you
Make me sick, fuck you
Make me real, fuck you

Well I went to school in Olympia
Everyone's the same
And so are you, in Olympia, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya
Everyone's the same
We look the same
We talk the same yeah
We even fuck the same
Well I went to school in Olympia, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya
Don't you please
Make me real, come on
Make me sick, come on
Make me real, yeah yeah yeah

Do it for the kids, yeah
Do it for the kids, yeah
Do it for the kids, yeah
Do it for the kids, yeah
Do it do it do it do it do it
For the kids

No we're not done
Well I went to school in Olympia
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

General CommentThis song makes fun of people who are anti-mainstream. People who accuse bands of selling out all the time. Someone posted these lyrics incorrectly, however. In the beginning she says, "Yeah, I know you wanna kill the rock stars." That could be a reference to the record label, Kill Rock Stars, and all the Riot Grrrls. Kathleen Hanna accused Kurt Cobain of selling out, and this song is like Courtney's big f-you to anyone who accused her or her husband of selling out. She is saying, "Yeah, I know you claim to be so anti-mainstream, but you're really not. Cuz if you had the chance, you'd want to try to be famous too."

General Commentyeah but this isn't the real rock star song, the original was pulled of the record because of kurts death due to the lyrical content of "how'd you like to be in nirvana? i bet you'd rather die." The original title is simply Olympia. It is a great one though a light way to finish such an emotional album

General CommentSuch a fantastic song and such a damn shame that it never did appear on LTT in the end. But, obviously, since Kurt had just died before the album's release it wouldn't have been very respectful. Gah, it still should have been properly released as opposed to only being available on bootlegs.
