"Heaven Tonight" as written by Courtney M Love and Eric T. Erlandson....
Here comes the sun in the form of a girl
She's the finest sweetest thing in the world
Take you to heaven tonight
I feel the horses coming galloping
In the summer rain
Take you to heaven tonight
'Cause I love you for what you are

I'll gallop to you, tonight, tonight
We'll ride, I'll give it to you
We're going to heaven tonight
Tonight

Out on the winding road I couldn't wait
Oh baby, I was afraid
Headed for heaven tonight
I'll go to heaven tonight
I feel the horses coming galloping
I will never grow old
I'll go to heaven tonight
Because I love you for what you are

I'll gallop to you tonight, tonight
We'll ride, I'll bow down to you
We're going to heaven tonight
Tonight

I can't believe that I can be happy
Someone will come again
I can't be happy
Oh, stop your crying
You can be happy
Go to heaven when you make me happy

Here comes the kiss that I never had
Nothing feels like this
Headed for heaven tonight
I love you

Here comes a storm in the form of a girl
She's the finest sweetest thing in the world
I'll go to heaven tonight for what you are

I'll gallop to you tonight, tonight
We'll ride, I'll bow down to you
We'll go to heaven tonight
Tonight (3 x's)
Take it tonight (2 x's)
Take me tonight
Tonight (2 x's)

General Commentyeah britneylove is right - courtney said in an interview she walked in to the studio one day and told the band that they "werent going home until i have a song i can play to my daughter". eric then proceeded to write the music in about 45 minutes.
this song makes me so happy evry time i hear it. its just one of those perfect feel-good songs. not realy sure of the exact subject matter - but a little clue for everyone...STOP THINKING EVERY HOLE SONG IS ABOUT KURT.
sorry had to get that off my chest.

General Commenti've also heard that rumour about this song as well. it's about a girl driving down the pacific coast highway on the way to losing her virginity (to her love) but dies in an accident before she can reach him. i read it on a review a couple of months ago, and have also heard it from several other (non-official) sources (does anyone know if the meaning is written by a band member on a cd-sleeve or anything like that?). regardless, i think you can see it from that perspective (i'll give 'it' to you tonight) as well as simply a song about love and the innocent almost child-like happiness it invokes. although the tune is chirpy and cheerful, whenever i think about the former meaning of the song i do feel a little sad. so it's almost a bittersweet feeling.

General CommentThis song makes my "spirit" feel free, like i just want to run away and run through a golden field... it makes me want to fall asleep and never wake up again.

General CommentI like this song, it sounds less hard punk rock than most of their songs but it's cool to me. Just my impression is her getting over kurt (although that isn't applicable if you believe she had him killed) but the whole "I can't believe that I could be happy /Summer will come again, I could be happy " sounds like that to me. But i don't really like that so if anyone has something let me know.

General Commenthey some of these lyrics are wrong, like the first line is "here comes the sun in the form of a girl" and its "in the summer rain" not summer's end , and instead of "i dont know why" its "out on the winding road" and some other little changes

General Commentwell i heard this song was written for frances at the last minute so she could have a song to sing to her, maybe it secretly means somethinga bout kurt, and then i also heard it was written for drew barrymore, her friend, its on one of drews movies..never been kissed i think or something like that.im not for sure which one.

General CommentI'm not sure which this is about, Kurt or Frances. It could be about both. Maybe it's about how she is finally learning to live without Kurt because Frances helps her to live again.

General CommentI can't remember where I heard this, but apparently it's based on the idea of a young girl who's decided she's ready to lose her virginity, but dies before she has a chance.

But I also think it could be about Frances, and Courtney telling her that as long as they have each other then things will always be in 'heaven'.

A really beautiful song, regardless of its subject.
