"Desensitized" as written by and Billie Joe/wright Iii Armstrong....
Clenching my teeth tight
My head is like a sponge
Give it to me free
I want to get ripped off
And drown in the airwaves
Another fatal wreck
On the information highway
So go ahead and kill yourselves
It all amuses me
For I'll be damned to spend my life in hell
Another wise ingrate
Bring me blood and pain
Of a stranger's fate
Give it all away
Give it to me now
I'm desensitized
I want to watch the bomb
Blow the masses high
I want to get ripped off
And drown in the airwaves
Another fatal wreck
On the information highway
So go ahead and kill yourselves
It all amuses me
For I'll be damned to spend my life in hell
Another wise ingrate
Bring me blood and pain
Of a stranger's fate
Give it all away
I want to get ripped off
And drown in the airwaves
Another fatal wreck
On the information highway
So go ahead and kill yourselves
It all amuses me
For I'll be damned to spend my life in hell
Another wise ingrate

General CommentUnfortunally, I think we all have been desensitized in some way with all of the media around. Billie Joe basically sums it up here.

General Commentbillie joe is always dead on the mark in his lyrics. in this instance, he writes about society's jaded feelings toward the world around us, thanks to tv, movies, music, and so on. i love this song's halted, out of control chords. crazy :)

General CommentThis song is about media, especially the internet and how everything and anything is so widely and easily available for guilty pleasures. We liked to be shocked, and it keeps getting more extreme and lines keep getting crossed in the name of entertainment. I wonder where this will lead us?

General CommentThis song was supposed to be on Nimrod if you look on the booklet in says Mike Drint plays the baseball bat i.e the bginning of the song.
They changed there minds and put the B-side to brain stew on instead Good Riddance (The time of your life)

General CommentI wondered what was going on at the start of the song. Can you believe I didn't notice Mike playing Baseball Bat in the Nimrod sleeve? I usually memorise the linear notes!
