"911 (Feat. Mary J. Blige)" as written by and Mary/cadet Brown....
Yo, what up, this Wyclef with Mary J.
I serenade the girls with my accoustic guitar
You know what I'm sayin'?
Yo, fellas havin' problems with the chicks?
I want you right now to turn the lights down low
Pull your girl up next to you
I want you to sing this to her

If death comes for me tonight, girl
I want you to know that I love you
And no matter how tough I wouldn't dare
Only to you I would reveal my tears
So tell the police I ain't home tonight
Messin' around with you is gonna get me life
But when I look into your eyes
You're worth that sacrafice
If this is the kind of love that my mom used to warn me about
Man, I'm in trouble
I'm in real big trouble
If this is the kind of love that the old folks used to warn me about
Man, I'm in trouble
I'm in real big trouble
I need y'all to do me a favor

Someone please call 911 (pick up the phone yo)
Tell them I just been shot down
And the bullet's, in my heart
And it's piercin through my soul (I'm losin blood yo)
Feel my body gettin cold
Somone please call 911 (pick up the phone yo)
The alleged assailaint, is five foot one
And she shot me through my soul
Feel my body gettin cold

So cold
Sometimes I feel like I'm a prisoner
I think I'm trapped here for a while
(but I'm always right here with you girl)
And every breath I fight to take
Is as hard as these four walls I wanna break
I told the cops you wasn't here tonight
Messin' around with me is gonna get you life
Oh yeah, yeah
But everytime I look into your eyes
Then it's worth the sacrifice

If this is the kind of love that your mom used to warn you about
Man, we are in trouble
You're in real big trouble
If this is the kind of love that the old folks used to warn me about
I'm in trouble
I'm in real big trouble
You got anything to say, girl?

Someone please call 911, yeah yeah (pick up the phone yo)
Tell them I just got shot down
And it's piercin through my soul (I'm losin blood yo)
Feel my body gettin cold

Someone please call 911 (can you do that for me)
The alleged assailaint, was five foot one
And she shot me through my soul (and he shot me through my heart)
Feel my body gettin cold
(He didn't care, he didn't worry, he didn't wonder..)

Wyclef and Mary J. Blige
I'm feelin you girl
I understand

And you're doin, what you're doin, would you do it
And do it and do it and do it for me

General CommentI'd actually call to see if one of them/their partners are okay if it's what I think it's about.

My interpretation is that it's about an emotionally abusive relationship that's toxic where they would hit eachother, and that calling the police doesn't help domestic abuse when you love someone.

Or it could be about someone getting pregnant and having a baby. I dunno.

Love this song too, and hopefully understand some of it.

My InterpretationI think it's about falling deeply in love with your partner, and you with them. "If this the the love the old folks used to warn me about". I think it's about two people who realise or are in a relationship and know for a fact they cannot live without the other. They need each other, and "someone please call 911" isn't being literal, but it's a metaphor used to express that he just "got shot down" by cupid's arrow and its gone through his soul. It's not just a feeling or a "new love" its a deep love, it's that ether that makes your soulllll burnnn soul.

I think they are scared of the ups and downs that happen in relationships and the struggles to come- because they love each other so much they don't want anything bad to happen- but the point is its worth the sacrifice, its worth fighting those fears and even going through those ups and downs as long as they are together. I think this is about someone who scared of true love, and it makes the very scared of nervous, but they want it.

"Messing around with me is going to get you life" life usually means life in prison, and it doesn't have to be negative. I think messing around with the "person" is going to "Get them life" together because they are made for each other, its one of those life long, forever type of loves that even if something happens and they cannot be together, they can't forget each other.

General CommentI think the song is about falling for someone (and wanting so much to express it)...
Calling 911 here is just used to indicate that the man has been shot (maybe by cupid's arrow) and that he's finally falling.
And that the alleged assailant is 5 foot 1 (generally a woman's height) which is pictured in the song as mary j. The man is head over heels that the he thinks that woman shot him 'through his soul".

    I just love this song.

General Commentim jumping on the "this song is amazing" bandwagon. i love it so much.

I used to think that it was about gang involvement between two lovers. But now i think that it is what people above have said, it is about someone falling hard for this woman.
