Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

ok this is what i think its about: heroin. "they were all in love with dying they were doing it in texas"..there was a heroin epidemic in texas in the 90's "they were drinking from a fountain that was pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain"..i think its kinda like..avalanches look like white powder..heroin comes as a white powder but then u do wtv to it to make it the liquid that you inject..what they "drink" could be the heroin (not really drinking it but injecting) "cinnamon and sugary"..apparantly if your like near someone on heroin it smells like a cinnamony smell (from what ive heard) "you never know just how you look through other peoples eyes"..on drugs, you always appear different to other ppl than how you think you appear. bcuz u believe u appear to be making total sense but sober ppl r like "wtf" lol
