"Making The Nature Scene" as written by Kim Gordon, Lee M. Ranaldo, Thurston Joseph Moore and Robert John Bertelli....
Going back to these origins
The city is a natural scape
Order in the details
Confusion uproar in the whole
In nature reality is selection
The tool of critical intervention
Fragmentation is the rule
Unity is not taught in school
You are an unnatural growth
On a funny sunny street
The city has forgotten you
It's symbols of the past
The meaning of its state
Its order of decay
Stand now in a column
And make the nature scene

Standing now in columns
Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene
Waiting to make their pay
There is no resistance to
The signs along the way
Standing all in columns
Waiting to make their pay
Making the nature scene
Waiting for the day
There is no resistance to
There is no resistance to
Salvation means to count on you
It just means to count on you
Make the nature scene

Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene

Going back to these origins
The city is a natural scape
Order in the details
Confusion uproar in the whole
In nature reality is selection
The tool of critical intervention
Fragmentation is the rule
Unity is not taught in school
You are an unnatural growth
On a funny sunny street
The city has forgotten you
It's symbols of the past
The meaning of its state
Its order of decay
Stand now in a column
And make the nature scene

Standing now in columns
Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene
Waiting to make their pay
There is no resistance to
The signs along the way
Standing all in columns
Waiting to make their pay
Making the nature scene
Waiting for the day
There is no resistance to
There is no resistance to
Salvation means to count on you
It just means to count on you
Make the nature scene

Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene
Making the nature scene

General Commentwow, can't believe no one has commented on this yet (possibly because it's so hard to interpret?).....great song anyway, probably my favourite off confusion is sex.

unfortunately i only have a rough idea on what this song is about, which is basically kim talking about her view of nature in a very abstract way, and that maybe every species just 'stands in columns' to 'make the nature scene'.

she also notes that perhaps the most important life skill (unity) isn't taught at school, making school unimportant in her view.

General CommentAbout a state of nature as applied to society, I suppose.

    Unjustly underrated.

General CommentI have to agree with toher.! on this one, Kim talks about nature in an abstract way and how everything simply fits in. About "Unity is not taught in schools", she is implying that this society is more a brute battle to the top where much lying and cheating occurs for personal advancement and little emphasis is placed in general on uniting to advance a goal.

Song MeaningI love all the deep interpretations of SY songs from you guys, but this one is about tripping on acid at Wrigley Field. At least according to the band members...
