"This Time Around" as written by and Zachary Walker/hanson Hanson....
It's getting colder in this ditch where I lie
I'm feeling older and I'm wondering why
I heard they told her it was tell and live or die
I didn't know her, but I know why she lied
I didn't know her, but I know why she died

[Chorus]
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around

And we won't go down

I heard them say that dreams should stay in your head
Well, I feel ashamed of the things that I've said
Put on these chains and you can live a free life
Well, I'd rather bleed just to know why I die

[Chorus]

And we won't go down
And we won't go down
And we won't go down
And we won't go down
All I know is that fear has got to go
This time around

I've started feeling like I don't want to fight
Give in to the given and put out the light
Cannons a-blazin' shower these moonlit skies
Then I remember and I know why he died
Do you know why I die?

[Chorus: x2]

And we won't go down
And we won't go down
And we won't go down

General CommentSounds like they've had trouble in their lives and want to make it right "this time around." It's pretty self-explainatory.

General CommentThis is the VERY SONG that made me love them. I wasn't a big fan of theirs before until this song came out. It's just so ... mature and grown and the way they sing it ... WOW!! This is such a rockin' song!

General CommentTo me, this song is about fighting for what you believe in. I also feel that in a way it can be about what we believe in the US... "cannons are blazing shower these moonlit skies, then I remember, and I know why he died."

To me, that line talks about how our forefathers died for us, and we must remember WHY they died. Although I take it in a patriotic way, I feel that it can be taken also in a religious way, or in any case of martyrdom. Like I said before, this song is basically about fighting for what you believe in, and going on even though those before you may have failed or been repressed or whatever.

General CommentI love this song because it is so catchy and well executed. It is also very sincere. It makes me feel like giving everything a second shot, and to be more determined. This time around i WILL succed.
In this song Hanson once again do something they are incredibly good at.... by suddenly building into an extremely rocky and loud chorus, from a relaxed verse. Once again a very tuneful and catchy song with spot on vocal harmonies.

General CommentPretty sure the first part of the song is about the shooting in Columbine and that girl (Cassie?.. I don't remember her name) not denying her belief in God. And then the part where it says "Then I remember and I know why he died" is about the death of Jesus.

So yeah. I got a religious meaning out of it.

General CommentActually I retract my previous statement. About the Columbine thing. Cuz it doesn't make any sense that way.. lol.
