in that dream I recall pieces of prisons I'm escaping in the next big religion I do the cross thing the cross thing which ever way the wind blows your mind in time I'm nine our lives unwind we find the wine red or white like the days fade away a cloud of smoke blurred eyes you're always brighter in the daytime you fight it after midnight it just seems to me it's such a joke every new walk thru life just inherits Christ you should have to prove something first something first first prove something you're a godfiend in that dream I recall pieces of prisons I'm escaping from a black hole I crawl, I crawl beneath my halo emanating the only proof you need is that you know and today's way's divine right brainwashed overnight you shouldn't have to lose something first something first lose something you're a godfiend the new cult king yeah doing the cross thing the cross thing can't you see why I'm still... can't you see why I'm still wondering if there is a dog can't you see wondering can't you see why I'm still wondering search for signs to light the path show me the way savior send a glimpse to glance and renew my faith emerald meets the oceans blue in a shade of grey the general knows not what to do as tears run down her face nails through hands and feet on this cedar grave atone for sin can this be can my soul be saved all alone I think too much need to believe in something real don't need this crutch because it just deceives can't you see... why I'm still search for love or war to restore disorder challenge me once more to hold my head above water drowning quick flooding in soaked through my lungs judgment day the verdicts in it seems the jury is hung

General CommentYes, this song is definitely about religion. Here's my take on a few of the lines.

"you're always brighter in the daytime you fight it after midnight" says two things to me. 1) it's easier to believe in religion and all during the day, and at night you start to question it more as you start thinking more deeply 2) during the day you generally conform more to society and religion, while at night youre more likely to rebel, and break laws and such...so by brighter he might be meaning more religious, and fighting it at night means fighting the rules, and trying to break away from it.

"it just seems to me it's such a joke every new walk thru life just inherits Christ you should have to prove something first" seems to say how much he thinks its all bullshit, because it makes no sense that you can just basically ask for Christ, and not do anything else and he will save you.

"search for signs to light the path show me the way savior send a glimpse to glance and renew my faith" I think this is saying how he wants to believe and is searching for guidance (hes also quoting scripture here), he just needs some sort of proof.

"nails through hands and feet on this cedar grave atone for sin can this be can my soul be saved" This obviously refers to Christ on the cross, and how he is wondering if his soul can be saved.

"I think too much need to believe in something real don't need this crutch because it just deceives" This is saying how religion is just a crutch to help people get through tough times, and doesn't hold any true relevance, and that if you think about it that this will be obvious.

"challenge me once more to hold my head above water drowning quick flooding in soaked through my lungs" I'm not sure about this part, but I think he is talking about how he's fighting to believe in Christ. How he is going through a lot of pain (possibly dying) yet he's trying not to try to take comfort in Christ because he knows it's not real.

"judgment day the verdicts in it seems the jury is hung" This seems to be talking about how on judgement day, people will realize that there is no religion to save you, because it's all a lie.

Well those are my views. I think this is Mushroomhead's best song, but far its deepest, and it has a ton of meaning, much of which I still can't understand after listening to this song many many times. But that's why this music is enjoyable, who wants to listen to punk and pop and rap where there is no meaning to try to understand.

General CommentObviously this song is about religion. It means that it's futile to believe in faith. Also I want to say that J. Mann has a badass voice. This song is very reminiscient of Faith no More.

General CommentMushroomhead is a great band, they write some of the most meaningful and complex, but yeah heavy lyrics around. I'm suprised that I havent head of them earlier, because I live in Ohio. Mushroomhead is the only good theing to some out of ohio well besides Pill Effect and Fallen Xero

General Commentthe line "it just seems to me its such a joke every new walk through life just enherits Christ you should have to prove something first" is soo true and couldn't have been put better.. to me i guess it just means that ppl believe in Christ or w/e just b/c their parents do and they don't kno any better .. they don't explore other options... and that the Christians or whoever should have to prove that their religion is correct or w/e b4 ppl start believing it in... thats jus muh point of view...
