"After The Thrill Is Gone" as written by and Don Henley Glenn Frey....
Same dances in the same old shoes
Some habits that you just can't lose
There's no telling what a man might lose
After the thrill is gone

The flame rises but it soon descends
Empty pages and a frozen pen
You're not quite lovers and you're not quite friends
After the thrill is gone oh
After the thrill is gone

What can you do when your dreams come true
And it's not quite like you planned?
What have you done to be losing the one
You held it so tight in your hand well

Time passes and you must move on,
Half the distance takes you twice as long
So you keep on singing for the sake of the song
After the thrill is gone

You're afraid you might fall out of fashion
And you're feeling cold and small
Any kind of love without passion
That ain't no kind of lovin' at all, well

Same dances in the same old shoes
You get too careful with the steps you choose
You don't care about winning but you don't want to lose
After the thrill is gone
After the thrill is gone
After the thrill is gone, oh
After the thrill is gone

General CommentI just love this song. Like lots of the Eagles songs, its just so relaxed, you dont have to think about it, you just know how he feels. Thats the reason I love The Eagles. They are truly genius

General CommentThis song isn't just about a human relationship -it's about life in general. Sometimes, you get everything you thought you wanted, but then you realise that you were following the wrong dreams. It's very tragic in a way.

General CommentTo me this song is about life in general and it's crazy I had to find this song for myself and no one ever talks about it but I love it to me it can be about all walks of life drug use or anything when u first brought to it there's a thrill to it and then after awhile it fades it like everything in life it's never as fun as it once was or you never get that initial thrill you once had or that you got for that bit that was pure and afternoon awhile if u get into just doing it your just doing it to do it like drug use or staying in a relationship etc but that initial thrill isent there anymore. Amazing song pretty much a song about life love it so deep yet so clear

General Commentthere's a double meaning here about a human relationship and the relationship of the artist with His muse.

This album, "One of These Nights" is the beginning of their reflection on what stardom has wrought.

General CommentI love this song. I think it means the same thing psychoblah said.
I love the line "You're not quite lovers and You're not quite friends, after the thrill is gone." It fits me right now.

General Commentthe lyric "your not quite lovers and not quite friends" is so truthful all of a sudden after all those intimate moments togher you run into each other and you have nothing to talk about
