Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Goto the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Then chase the sun, and it tears away and it breaks you as you run,
You run, you run!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young
Behind the smile, there's danger and a promise to be told:
You never knew.
Life's fantasy, to be locked away and still to think you're free
You're free, we're free!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young
Die young, die young
Can't you see the writing on the wall?
Die young, gonna die young
Someone stopped the pain
Goto the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Then chase the sun, and it tears away and it breaks you as you run,
You run, you run!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young, young!
Die young, die young!
Die young, die young, young!
Die young, die young, die young, die young, die young!
Your back's to the wall
Then chase the sun, and it tears away and it breaks you as you run,
You run, you run!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young
Behind the smile, there's danger and a promise to be told:
You never knew.
Life's fantasy, to be locked away and still to think you're free
You're free, we're free!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young
Die young, die young
Can't you see the writing on the wall?
Die young, gonna die young
Someone stopped the pain
Goto the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Then chase the sun, and it tears away and it breaks you as you run,
You run, you run!
So live for today
Tomorrow never comes
Die young, young!
Die young, die young!
Die young, die young, young!
Die young, die young, die young, die young, die young!

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
xa...friends...you're confused!
first of all i have to say that geezer signs this lyrics..it a story he say in many albums of sabbath.
die young is locked lyrics, written when he at this time is a middle-aged man. He Knows!!!!!
i have to say that Geezer say a story and this can be found at erlier songs like 'national acrobat'(see my comments) and others like 'killing yourself to live', 'Children of the grave', etc
The sense of 'die young' is that you, as a child (only when are you young have this possibility) have the chance to change your life.
gezzer knows that we born as slaves and propose a way to kill our slavery, not physical by commiting suicide but trying to kill the slave we have inside!!!!

You are wrong Geezer didn't write these lyrics, Geezer came in after this song was already recorded and written, they (Bill, Tony and Dio) took out all the bass licks that Craig Krooger had laid down and Geezer put in his own bass licks<br /> Don't get me wrong, I love Geezer he is the Bob Dylon of heavy metal, but Ronnie wrote these lyrics...
