Thirty two teeth in a jawbone
Alabama cryin' for none
Before I have to hit him
I hope he's got the sense to run

Reason those poor girls love him
Promise them anything
Reason they believe him
He wears a big diamond ring

Alabama getaway
Alabama getaway
Only way to please me
Turn around and leave
And walk away

Majordomo Billy Bojangles
Sit down and have a drink with me
What's this about Alabama
Keeps comin' back to me?

Heard your plea in the courthouse
Jury box began to rock and rise
Forty-nine sister states all had
Alabama in their eyes

Alabama getaway
Alabama getaway
Only way to please me
Turn around and leave
And walk away

Why don't we just give Alabama
Rope enough to hang himself?
Ain't no call to worry the jury
His kind takes care of itself

Twenty-third Psalm Majordomo
Reserve me a table for three
In the Valley of the Shadow
Just you, Alabama and me

Alabama getaway
Alabama getaway
Only way to please me
Turn around and leave
And walk away

    My Interpretation

A G is about a red neck southerner who was a deadhead dancing in front of the stage, alone at a Jerry show, at a biker bar in Rodeo California, Jerry knew the kid was gonna get beat up by the bikers, so he sent 2 men in suits,to ask the kid if he wanted to meet Jerry and have a drink with him. The kid said sure, but instead ran away out of the show, opting not to piss anyone off,,,,,,,Jerry was pleased !

    Song Meaning

So, at Christmastime when Jerry was a child, he was taken by his Mom and Aunt to see Santa at a local department store in Montgomery, Alabama where he grew up. Jerry asked him for an electric guitar, swearing he was a good boy all year long, which he was not.

Christmas Morning arrived, but there was no guitar. The very next day, Jerry broke open his piggy bank filled with money he made from washing windows in the neighborhood. He went down and bought a beat up piece of junk used guitar and came home and started playing it. His mother was pissed and he told her the story. She calmed down and swore that he would hunt down the lying Santa and knock all his teeth out. The chord progression he strummed became the chord progression for Alabama Getaway.

I think this was after Alabama banned the dead from playing at their venue there.

Actually heard that this was about Keith and Donna leaving the band in 1979. Donna is from Alabama and it was said that she could be tough to deal with back in her hazy, crazy drugged out days. Keith and Donna's last show was in early '79 and the song was written later that year. Just food for thought.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
