"God Says No" as written by and David Wyndorf....
Firing my friend
But I come back again and again
I just can't pretend
One more step and I'll start to bend

You try and live
And God says no

We go on our way
Just waiting for that lucky day
I tried every way
Just so that God can blow me away

I need some love
To start the show
But ask just once
And God says no

A lot of dust slides through my head
Scary thoughts like wishing we were dead
You won't get caught if you don't get queer
And you'll be ready for a new frontier

It's good to be bad
It's the best time you'll ever have
What the hell is this ultra sad
Pray for your cool and work on that ass

You learn too much
You'll never know
Just start to laugh
And God says no

A point of life flies through my head
A scary thought like I was someone else
And don't get lost now and show no fear
And you'll be ready for a new frontier

A lot of dust slides through my head
And scary thoughts like wishing we were dead
You won't get caught if you don't get queer
And you'll be ready for a new frontier
For a new frontier

General CommentI love this song, the first time I heard it I felt like I was underwater, I was pissed at the time aswell, so that might have helped...

I think it's about getting "god-smacked" (some random event that just seems like god has stepped on you).

General Commenti dunno how u came up with that areohaed,i think this one is pretty straight forward man, gods no fun,i see that(i need some love to start the show) line as he`ll put on a better show/gig if hes just fucked someone, but thats against the law of god,im assuming they aint married here, and that (u learn too much, ull never know) even if ur the pope u really dont know shit for sure, theyre just like us in that respect(of course i think when these pope types say they can talk to god their lying even if they dont belive it,they just so far out,one can belive anything if he says it enough)

General CommentLike negativecreep09 I too think the meaning is pretty straightforward. It's about how religions and how they often demand certain prerequisites to heaven, which is if you follow to a T would pretty much mean you wouldn't even live at all. You'd spend your entire life being miserable and preparing for the afterlife, an afterlife you don't even know exists.

General CommentI always figured it was about going sober. I figure that it's a guy who is repeatedly trying and failing on the 12 steps programme (I come back again and aa=gain) who can't ever commit to it or complete it because he fails to recognise or respect a higherpower ("One more step and I'll start to bend"). The rest of the song is him struggling with the conflicting voices (one urging him to seek a new, clean lifestyle - "a new frontier" and the other telling him that "it's fun to be bad")

General CommentFirstly, this song is in my top 10 list of best tunes ever.

Secondly am I the only one here to have an interpretation regarding sexual orientation?
Not that I'm an original or something here, but reading "I tried every way", "God says no" and "if you don't get queer" just makes me think about what some western religions say about not being straight...
