"The Unraveling" as written by and Principe/mcilrath/barnes/wleklinski....
And all these things that we tie together
Keep unraveling apart
And the light that used to burn so bright
Now is dark
With anger-laced intent we set fire
To the bridges that remain
And they're wading through the current now

And they drown in the flood of the tears
That have been wept
And I scream to the sky
"No you are not alone"

If you think that you're words will ever make a difference
Think again and carry on
Because the weight behind the hand that holds us is strong
But there is hope in the roar of a thousand pleading cries
And all these things that we tie together

The sound of their tongues being bitten
Is all I hear
As we fire at the whites of their eyes then
Dance on ashes of the world

As they drown in the flood of the tears
That have been wept
And their tongues being bitten
Is all that I can hear
As I scream to the sky
"I need you now"

Can you feel this truth now unraveling?
Or will you chase the burning sun
Into the sea

General Commentthis is my favorite song by my favorite band, absolutly awesome... this song is about when things are going great and all of a sudden they start "unraveling" and there is no way to stop them...so you just wait until your life is completely unraveled and slowy start rolling it back up again...GREAT SONG

General Commentugly that was a very unusual comparison unless i am missing something .. but i think this song is almost about losing hope and falling apart but whatever we do doesnt make a differance anyway "if you think that you're words will ever make a difference
    think again"

General CommentSometimes i think this is about war. It seems to be alking about the futility and impulsiveness of war. Anyway, although this is one of their less mainstream songs, i think it is by far the best. The lyrics and tune are amazing.

General CommentI think this song is about that person who you're always trying to repair things with. You try so hard to stay on good terms (and all these things that we tie together) but they just seem to keep falling away (keep unraveling apart).

General CommentI think its when everything u know is coming apart and u want to do something about it but u cant do it alone because "the weight behind the hand that holds us is strong" meaning a big force is holding u back (govt) so u look to gather like minded individuals to help but when it comes time to speak up "the sound of there tongues being bitten is all that i hear" means no one is saying anything and u just call out to anyone that will listen.

General CommentTo me it is about when there is loads of evidence for something and you try to make it go together to prove what you think is true but it never quite fits properly. Then you realise what you thought was true might not really be: "and the light that used to burn so bright/now is dark".

My InterpretationI can't explain why, but for some reason, this song makes me think of I Am Legend/a zombie attack.

General Comment I think this song is about the truth coming out. All the things people cover up eventually 'unravel' for everyone else to see. The song could be both personal and political.
