Come on, come on
Uh, yeah
Come on, come on, uh

I feel like I've been locked up tight
For a century of lonely nights
Waiting for someone to release me
You're lickin' your lips
And blowing kisses my way
But that don't mean I'm gonna give it away
Baby, baby, baby (baby, baby, baby)

Oh, oh, oh
My body's sayin' let's go
Oh, oh, oh
But my heart is sayin' no

If you wanna be with me
Baby, there's a price to pay
I'm a genie in a bottle
You gotta rub me the right way
If you wanna be with me
I can make your wish come true
You gotta make a big impression (oh yeah)
Gotta like what you do

I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Gotta rub me the right way, honey
I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Come come, come on and let me out

The music's fading and the lights down low
Just one more dance and then we're good to go
Waiting for someone who needs me
Hormones racing at the speed of light
But that don't mean it's gotta be tonight
Baby, baby, baby (baby, baby, baby)

Oh, oh, oh
My body's sayin' let's go
Oh, oh, oh
But my heart is sayin' no (but my heart is sayin' no)

If you wanna be with me
Baby, there's a price to pay
I'm a genie in a bottle (I'm a genie in a bottle)
You gotta rub me the right way
If you wanna be with me (oh)
I can make your wish come true (your wish come true oh)
Just come and set me free, baby
And I'll be with you

I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Gotta rub me the right way, honey
I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Come come, come on and let me out
I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Gotta rub me the right way, honey
(If you wanna be with me)
I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Come come, come on and let me out

Oh, oh, oh
My body's sayin' let's go
Oh, oh, oh
But my heart is sayin' no

If you wanna be with me
Baby, there's a price to pay
I'm a genie in a bottle (I'm a genie in a bottle)
You gotta rub me the right way
If you wanna be with me
I can make your wish come true
You gotta make a big impression
Gotta like what you do
If you wanna be with me
Baby, there's a price to pay
I'm a genie in a bottle (in a bottle baby)
You gotta rub me the right way
If you wanna be with me (if you wanna be with me)
I can make your wish come true
Just come and set me free, baby
And I'll be with you

I'm a genie in a bottle, baby
Come come, come on and let me out

Basically it's saying if you want me than you have to treat me the right way and with respect and I'll give you what you want. Not in a dirty way.

It's saying she feels horny but doesn't want to just have sex with anyone. She wants someone who really makes her crave it, who leaves her no choice but release the genie (whore) inside of her. Basically she wants to be a total slut but that doesn't mean she's desperate for sex; she's waiting for a guy who's worth being a slut for.

ah man..I miss the 90's music, this song included.

valxluffxjoo__ ---- the lyrics include 'rub' because in order to release a genie from a bottle...you have to rub the bottle. Like you know in Aladin...where he had to rub the lamp in order to get the genie out? it's like that.

This song to me is about her wanting to be released...like she's been feeling trapped for so long that she needs someone who'll help her escape, someone who she can be herself with, someone who she can be real with and free with.

It's not a dirty song. It depends on how you interpret it..and if you know what a genie in a bottle is then you're fine. A genie in a bottle is just someone who wants to escape...she's the genie and just wants to be free. It's pretty self explanatory. Those who make this song 'dirty' just need to analyze the lyrics more...and put aside their dirty thoughts and stop butchering songs for no reason.

"Gotta rub me the right way" actually has three different meanings - how clever is that :)

Lyrics aside, this was a good song, they don't make em like this anymore

    My Interpretation

The song is basically about a girl who wants a man that will treat her right. "Rub her the right way" means making the right impression. She feels the physical attraction to a man, but she doesn't want a relation that's purely physical. She wants a man that will care about her emotional and mental well-being as well; someone that will care about her as a person. She's saying that if they do that, then she'll be their girl and their's only.

They also made a "cleaner version" of the song. They replaced "hormones racing" with "heartbeat racing" and "rub me the right way" with treat me the right way.

Um...about waiting all night, to release and shit....she's talking about not having had a good fuck in awhile.

So...somebody, go rub her the right way.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
