There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed if I just listened to it
Right outside the window

There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were drying up forever (forever)

I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made

But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
It's so hard to believe but it's all coming back to me
It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now

There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow
Baby, baby

If I kiss you like this
And if you whisper like that
It was lost long ago but it's all coming back to me
If you want me like this
And if you need me like that
It was dead long ago but it's all coming back to me
It's so hard to resist and it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now
But it's all coming back

There were those empty threats and hollow lies
And whenever you try to hurt me
I just hurt you even worse and so much deeper

There were hours that just went on for days
When alone at last we'd count up all the chances
That were lost to us forever (forever)

But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then

But if I touch you like this
And if you kiss me like that
It was so long ago but it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me
It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now

There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow
Baby, baby, baby

When you touch me like this
And when you hold me like that
It was gone with the wind but it's all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see all coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies all coming back to me
I can barely recall but it's all coming back to me now

If you forgive me all this
If I forgive you all that
We forgive and forget and it's all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
We see just what we want to see all coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies all coming back to me
I can barely recall but it's all coming back to me now

(It's all coming back to me now)
And when you kiss me like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And when I touch you like that
(It's all coming back to me now)
And if you do it like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And if we

simply beautiful... the meaning is obvious- losing the one you love and blocking out memories of them bcos its too painful... but one day they return but you have forgotten them... until they touch you... then all those feelings and memories come flooding. its like that one person can break down all your barriers.

sometimes it's just a melody or a certain smell that reminds you on the feeling you once had for someone... this is what this beautiful song reminds me of

I like the song quite a bit. It reminds me of my ex, who was so great to me, and it ended abruptly and unexpectedly on a very bad note, and we kinda hated each other, then. But now, I'm beginning to fall for her again. It reminds me of the way that 2 minutes with them can make up for the 180,000 minutes you had to spend without them.

This song is about someone who had lost someone they had loved, and since it was such a tradgity, they blocked it out of thier mind, but suddenly, little things make her remember. Very beautiful

Jim Stienman is the freakin most brilliant song writer in the world!! This song was originally written for Meat Loaf to put on the Album Bat Out of Hell II (in 1993) but Meat Loaf wanted to use I would do anything for love (but I wont do that) instead and wait to put this song on Bat Out of Hell III (in 2006)......so Jim let Celine sing it. Later Meat Loaf sang this as a duet with a norwegian girl named Marion Ravon (who has an AMAZING VOICE).

Celine did a good job, but it's no where near as good as when Meat Loaf sang it. Theres just too much emotion and power in his voice that no singer could EVER beat. MEAT LOAF 4EVER!!!!

Amazingly stunning song, lyrically, musically - especially her version. I love both her and Meat Loaf - but hers is the definitive version. Just like his version of "I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that) will always be the gold standard on that one. If you can, "watch" her version of this powerful song on the new iTunes visualizer...perfection for that app

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
