14 to 41
Start blind, end up dumb
You're 16, you're 23, you're 32, you're 41

Gonna leave it all behind
and not say sorry
Yea, you are always right
So why worry

You learn to steal and lie to friends, you trust no one
My Birthday's comin' around again

I'm waiting for the bell to ring, I'm always older
Pressures and folds of fat and lipstick-stained calendars
hide under marriage porcelain
that I'm falling over
My birthday, my Birthday
my worst day
My Birthday's comin around again

14 to 41
Start blind, end up dumb
You're 16, you're 23, you're 32, you're 41
You're all those things
and then you're none
You're through all that
you've just begun

General CommentAs Jonah said, it sounds like a sad song, but it isn't, because of the last line.

General CommentJonah blew me away when I saw him live. I wasn't expecting too much from him and he just strucking me as one of the most amazing live perfomances I have ever seen. His poetry is so perfect and his style is rad. I can't wait to see him again soon...

General Commentjonah is simply amazing.. i've seen him live twice.. the first time he said he had a sore throat.. and i didn't believe him, cuz he sounded pretty good...

but he must have been telling the truth.. cuz the second time he was so amazing.. mm. definately someone who's having fun.. music needs more people like jonah

but that said.. did anyone notice how all the ages in the song have digits that sum to 5?

    14 - 1+4 =5
    41 - 4+1 = 5
same with 23, 32 and 41... the only exception is 16
but everyone knows that 16 is a mixed up backwards age to be... and
6-1 = 5 ...... wierd.... i asked jonah about this and he said "there are a lot of wierd coincidences about this song, a lot of stuff i never intended when i wrote it..."

hrrrm. food for thought anyway... :)

General Comment"it's about being between those two ages and how you're supposed to accomplish something."
