"Suzie Blue" as written by and Ben Harper....
Won't you sing me the blues
Won't you sing me the blues
Sing me something my heart can use; misery loves a symphony

Does your face, your pretty face get lost in a crowd?
And you say no one's there
To hear you cry out loud
What will you do, Suzie Blue?

Where did you learn to do that so well?
Where did you learn to do that so well?
I guess that would be like kiss and tell
If it's a secret, why did you show me?

But your far away from the love you used to hold, don't sit and watch your self
Grow old
The day is new, Suzie Blue
The day is new, Suzie Blue

Real life has let you down
Real life has let you down
Someone stripped the jewel from your crown
Everybody owes somebody something
Kissing from heaven in your arms
And we'll make love to the memories
They will always see us through, Suzie Blue
The day is new, Suzie Blue
The day is new, Suzie Blue

General CommentPoor Suzie Blue. I think she has just been so sad her whole life because she lost someone she loved and no one has loved her since. Now her prince has come alond and wants to put the jewel back in her crown. A metaphor for love in her heart and a smile on her face.

General CommentI adore this song...just another great example of ben's talent in variety. I cant help but sway my head back and forth with this one. I agree suzie has loved before and lost...but the day is new!

General CommentNo, tommy b, this song is not ben's "When I'm Sixty-four". Just because a song employs the use of a clarinet does not mean it is Paul's song. The only thing outside of the clarinet that the two have in common are that they are love song's (and that's still somewhat of a stretch with this song). There's plenty of song's and artists that use both of those facets in the same song.

General CommentSomeone he knows that's sad and broken hearted about an old love she had; and has just given up on life or love letting herself grow old. He's telling her the day is new, find a new love! Be happy again. He could even be telling her to give him a chance.
