Whenever sang my songs
On the stage, on my own
Whenever said my words
Wishing they would be heard
I saw you smiling at me
Was it real or just my fantasy?
You'd always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar

My last night here for you
Same old songs, just once more
My last night here with you?
Maybe yes, maybe no
I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me
Did you ever know
That I had mine on you?

Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer

So let me come to you
Close as I want to be
Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as I whisper
How I love your peaceful eyes on me
Did you ever know
That I had mine on you?

Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough
Your tears if you're holding back
Or pain if that's what it is
How can I let you know
I'm more than the dress and the voice
Just reach me out then
You will know that you're not dreaming

Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure
If frown is shown then I will know
that you are no dreamer

Hah, I'm the one who comments on the FF songs! ^^ yay! Anyways...This song, if you think about it in just terms off FFVIII, it describes the romance between the main characters, Rinoa and Squall. If you think about, until RInoa came along, Squall was pretty much what you might call a 'lost soul' ...He was shy, and kind of shallow..(Always gotta have a loner, eh?) ..But Rinoa brought out the best in him, and helped him to find the love which he needed, even if he was too 'tough' to admit it..Eyes On Me is quite a lovely song, and doesn't just have to pertain to FFVIII only... Like a lot of Final Fantasy songs (Nobuo Uematsu is a genius, btw...hehe) this revolves around the theme of love ^_^

(And to 'binkie' ...You can get this song, and you can listen to it whenever you want to..Just download a music sharing program, like Morpheus (etc, etc) and there you go! You can also search some Final Fantasy Fansites (Three 'F's! lol..) and they usually have some Mp3's you can download ;D Enjoy..)

This song isn't that good. I would put it my "bad" song catergory. It might have been better if they had a better singer for it. Nothing against Faye Wong, but this isn't her best work.

I adore this song for Faye Wong's voice had a surreal and magicial effect on it. It can literally send you to the dreamscape of love and enchantment. :) Oh, and FFVIII is a great game! ;)

Just to clarify, this song is about Julia and Laguna from the game, and not Squall and Rinoa. It's meant to be Julia singing it (see Winhill, disk 2 with Kiros), and from the plot, we can assume it's him she means!... that said, it applies to Squall/Rinoa too.

Beautiful song, used to play it to death

    Sirius1 is definitely right.

"You'd always be there in the corner Of this tiny little bar My last night here for you Same old songs, just once more"

It is meant to be sung by Julia.

Great song, reminds me of my crush

sirius1 is right, its about laguna, on disc one when julia tells him she wants to sing but cant write the lyrics, she says the faces he showed her inspired her to write 'eyes on me'. and it does obviously apply to squall and rinoa too, also seeing as laguna is squalls dad, its cute. this is my favourite final fantasy and my favourite game of all time cuz' when you play it, it just doesnt feel like your average game its so real. faye wongs voice is so wonderful in this song, especially the version in the end movie clip, ah whenever i see the end movie clip or the space scene i just have to cry, among other parts :). the first comment is probably the best one on here too, you can feel angry or hurt. lonely and this song just makes you forget about it! beautiful song xx

the question is "what does this song mean to me"?

i think this song is about laguna, but i think it also calls powerfully to anyone who has ever looked at someone and not had the courage to ask them out.

odd isn't it, rammstein fan, love metallica, but this song speaks the most deeply to me.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
