"2,000 Light Years From Home" as written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards....
Sun turnin' 'round with graceful motion
We're setting off with soft explosion
Bound for a star with fiery oceans
It's so very lonely, you're a hundred light years from home

Freezing red deserts turn to dark
Energy here in every part
It's so very lonely, you're six hundred light years from home

It's so very lonely, you're a thousand light years from home
It's so very lonely, you're a thousand light years from home

Bell flight fourteen you now can land
Seen you on Aldebaran, safe on the green desert sand
It's so very lonely, you're two thousand light years from home
It's so very lonely, you're two thousand light years from home

General CommentAldebaran, a giant red star about 44 times the diameter of the Sun and with 150 times the Sun's luminosity, is "only" 65 light years from the earth. I think he missed his stop!

In any event, maybe life on earth looks so bleak to him that loneliness and life on a hot red star is an improvement. And of course the red star could be a metaphor for satanism.

At today's fuel prices, this is one expensive voyage, that's for certain!

General CommentOne of the first rock songs to feature the synthesiser. It's a little ahead of its time.
