"Dreamer" as written by Roger Hodgson and Richard Davies....
Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said "Far out, what a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
You know, well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do

Dreamer, you stupid little dreamer;
So now you put your head in your hands, oh no!
I said "Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
You know, well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do.

Well work it out someday

If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy
If I could be someone
You can be anyone, celebrate boy.
If I could do something
Well you can do something,
If I could do anything
Well can you do something out of this world?

Take a dream on a Sunday
Take a life, take a holiday
Take a lie, take a dreamer
dream, dream, dream, dream, dream along

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
Oh no!

General Commenti love this song! when it says "can you put your hands into your head, oh no!" it's like you have all these dreams in your mind, but none of them are tangible. i just think this song is cool cause im a dreamer, too.

General CommentWhat a great song, truely brilian. I definately agree with ally8star abbout it being about having all these dreams that make no sense at the time, but come into play further on in life.

General CommentThe Narrator in this song is telling a man that he is nothing but a dreamer, a person who simply thinks up these magnificent ideas, but is unable to put his hands (Symbolizing acually going out and making these "dreams" possible) in his. THe man cannot put his hands in his head, where all of the ideas come from. The lines:

    "If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy
    If I could be someone-
You can be anyone, celebrate boy."

show that the "Dreamer" could be all of these things only if he could acually put these ideas into use. And the narrator looks upon the man as nothing but a "Stupid little dreamer"

General CommentI think he’s calling himself a dreamer and putting the finger in the wound trying to get some motivation. He knows he has what it takes to get things done, if he finds the right balance between dreaming and building those dreams.

“We’ll work it out some day
    If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy
    If I could be someone-
You can be anyone, celebrate boy.
    If I could do something-
    Well you can do something,
    If I could do anything-
Well can you do something out of this world?”

--I’m also a stupid little dreamer and hope I can put my hands in my head soon

My Opinionthis is one of my fav. Suptertramp songs and they dont make songs like this no more. From what i hear i always think the song is about a whimsical kid, be it a guy or girl, who just daydreams about what they want. And the song's inevitable ending they just have their dreams there to guide them in this life.

General CommentI love this song. I think it's all about a guy or girl who has nothing but his dreams, he wishes to accomplish more in life, he dreams his life turns out for the best than it is now and so:

    Well work it out someday

    If I could see something
You can see anything you want boy
    If I could be someone-
You can be anyone, celebrate boy.
    If I could do something-
    Well you can do something,
    If I could do anything-
Well can you do something out of this world?

But as much as he wants it seems like what he wishes will never be more than dreams.
