"Leave Me Alone" as written by Natalie Jane Imbruglia and Andy Wright....
I ask you to hold me,but you don't want to hold me-It don't work like
I want you to love me-I'm losing patience now
Oh leave me alone(Oh leave me alone)
Stop asking for more
I'm goin' home on my own
Oh leave me alone(Oh leave me alone)
I'm walkin' out of the door
I'll make it on my own
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Just leave me alone
You like me to stroke you
Careful I don't choke you,did you read my mind?
You say don't be blue
Is that the best you can do?
I've lost my patience now

General CommentI really like the darkness of this song. I agree with what Apie said. I love the way she didn't put a lot of fluff into the song she just gets right into the meaning.

General CommentThere's a note of irony in the song and I wonder if it's intentional. On one hand, you've got "I ask you to hold me", "i ask you to love me", on the other, "stop asking for more". If the same person says those three things, there's a note of hypocrisy, that they speaker is not getting what she wants, nor willing to give what he wants.

So you've got two people who want different things and are not willing/capable of satisfying each other, and the speaker shows contempt for her partner. You could probably switch the verbs around and create a fitting song to be sung by her comparably dissatisfied partner.

General Commenti guess she wants independence.

everytime i hear this song, i imagine a black and white movie scene set while it's raining in some italian culture city.

General CommentLove this song. I also picture a scenario whenever I here it; it's a very magical song.
To me, it's about a guy that's just using a girl for sex. He won't love her, but he wants her to srtoke her; ie he wants sex not a relationship.

General CommentI agree with you lot, but to start with the first 4 lines makes me think of a selfish child (not in a negativ way) just how its said, very simple. One of her best songs, she rocks!

General CommentThis song is weird, but I agree with everyone. He just wants sex, she wants more, then she gets fed up and leaves.

General CommentI think this song is about a guy/girl who she wants love from but he's not giving it to her. He just uses her for his own personal agenda.

"You say don't be blue, Is that the best you can do ?"

The guy/girl doesn't know how she's feeling and saying stupid things that would make her angry.

General CommentThis guy refuses or cant give her what she needs... the basics.. (physical attention "holding", empathy "love" "dont be blue") he is just consuming her energy and its bringing the worst out of her. He keeps asking more of her and she cant take it anymore because she has no more to give. She wants out and shes frustrated
