"Come Together" as written by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Steven Alexander James and David Rowntree....
I don't understand
You're walking all over me
All over me to you
Well you must be mad
And you know you are
You should have known
I'd do anything for you

So why, why
Can't we come together? Why
Why, why
Can't we come together? Why

Inside my head
There's nothing left
It's all been taken out by you
And do I care?
Well you know I do
You should have known
I'd do anything for you

So why, why
Can't we come together? Why
Why, why
Can't we come together? Why

Now it's all been said
And you know it all
Then you should have known
I'd do anything for you

For you
For you
For you
For you

So why, why
Can't we come together? Why
Why, why
Can't we come together? Why

General CommentThese lyrics seem so simple, still, I haven't figured it all out yet. He does say "I'd do anything for you', but it doesn't sound like he's in love at all. And when he says "so why don't we come together", it feels like he's asking himself, and not her. Maybe he's just out from a relationship and he's asking himself why it didn't work. Or he's regretful and wants her back, but, as said, he'a not in love. He just feels guilty and tries to blame her (then the "I'd do anything..." line would fit). It's matter of pride, not love.
This also could be an ironic song, like: I treat you so bad, so why don't we come together?
