Children, behave
That's what they say when we're together
And watch how you play
They don't understand
And so we're

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin'
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew? And so we're

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only, only sound

Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

(Alone now)
(One around)
(Alone now)
(Only sound)

This is one of the greatest songs of the 80's. Tiffany was the first great female teenage singer, and I think this really helped pave the way for future teen sensations, such as Britney Spears, Cristina Aguilera, and Taylor Swift.

Also, this is one of the most successful covers of an original song ever. It's great that a teenager could bring a 60's hit back to life, and put a modern spin on it. This is a song that is not out of date nor will it be, because of the theme.

My interpretation of the song is that it is about a situation many of us find ourselves in, in our teenage years. Underage sex is still somewhat a shady topic. And that is definitely what this song is talking about. I compare this perhaps to Romeo and Juliet. Maybe the couple in the song aren't supposed to be together, as far as family pressures. However, when love feel right, you have to get away from it all and take your chances together.

Okay uhm, this song isn't about lesbians, guys.

"Look at the way We gotta hide what we're doing"

Err, doesn't anyone remember having to hide their relationships when they were younger because maybe their families and friends wouldn't approve of said couple being together? Not because of the sexual orientation of the couple..

'Cause what would they say If they ever knew"

Again this totally has NOTHING to do with an OMFG THEY'RE LESBIANS situation, it's more of a "Oh god how can that girl be dating THAT boy!?" kind've thing..

Well accually (in respnce to the last two comments), since the song doesn't put any he's or she's in the lyrics, it could be ether. I think it could be about any kind of relationship, a lesbian coupple, or a straight coupple, and if it were sung by a male it could be about two guys. In general, it's just about two younge people in love who have to, for whatever reason, keep their love a scret. The rest is up to ou peronal intrpertaton.

(forgive any spellin errors, my comuter is lagging)

Regardless, I think we can all agree that the song is about young, care-free love. My personal interpretation is that of young love between long-term friends. I interpret this partly because of the line:

"Children behave That's what they say when we're together And watch how you play"

Which seems to indicate both a young age and that the children are not necessarily assumed to be in a relationship.

To me personally, this song brings to mind my life in Brisbane before moving to Sydney, playing with my neighbour. It also brings to mind my time spent in Southern Canada with my now fiancé, escaping the house and just rolling in the grass. (innocently)

Given the original group and the time period it was written(1967), I've got an opinion. I'm fairly certain there's several euphemisms(children behave...And watch how you play...) in the lyrics, and to me, it's pretty easy to make the connection that the song is about underage sex. I'm thinking probably young teenagers. (Obviously you wouldn't have guessed that by the music video Tiffany did, but since when does music videos match their lyrics? I mean you had little kids singing SoulJa Boy's Superman, which is probably the most degrading and disgusting song ever written about women.

    ANYWAY

The verses clearly indicate that they're young and that they're doing things that aren't looking kindly on.

Look at the way We gotta hide what we're doing 'Cause what would they say If they ever knew and so we're (Gee I wonder what they could be doing?)

obviously the song is about some intimate relationship, because of the chorus.

And then you put your arms around me And we tumble to the ground And then you say

I think we're alone now There doesn't seem to be anyone around I think we're alone now The beating of our hearts is the only sound

They're falling on the ground, they want to be alone, their hearts are probably racing....and they don't want to do this in the presence of anyone else...certainly not their parents. Seems pretty simple to me.

It's a cute song...it's fun, it's catchy, but it's about sex. Most songs are. Well that our love or drugs.

The 80s was the land of cheese but I liked it than and now. I realize this is a remake but this was one of the greats of my yester years ha ha. I always envision exactly what it says. Like two young love birds running wild and free and when they get the chance to be together it's like magic.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
