"Summer Rain" as written by Jeffrey B. Franzel and Hayley Westenra....
Whispering our goodbyes
Waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain
I can hear him saying
Nothing will change
Come dancing with me baby
In the summer rain

I remember the rain on our skin
And his kisses hotter than the
Santa Ana winds
Whispering our goodbyes
Waiting for a train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain

I remember laughing til we almost cried
(There at station that night)
I remember looking in his eyes

Oh my love, it's you and that I dream of
Oh my love, since that day
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

Doesn't matter what I do now
Doesn't matter what I say
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

I can hear the whistle
Military train
I was dancing with my baby
In the summer rain
I can here him singing
Ooh "Love Is Strange"
Come dance with me baby
In the summer rain

I remember the rain pouring down
And we poured our hearts out
As the train pulled out
I can see my baby
Waving from the train
It was last time that I saw him
In the summer rain

Every time I see the lightening
Every time I hear the thunder
Every time I close the window
When this happens in the summer
Oh the night is so inviting
I can feel that you are so close
I can feel you when the wind blows
Blows right through my heart

Every night and every day now
Though I know you've gone away
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain

General CommentThis song makes me sooo sad. She's basicly saying that no matter what she does, she can't get over her bf/husband/partner, she's always remembering the emotional night in which she saw him last, dancing with him in the rain.

And no matter what she does, absolutely everything reminds her of him:

"Every time I see the lightening
Every time I hear the thunder
Every time I close the window
When this happens in the summer....
...I can feel that you are so close
I can feel you when the wind blows"

General Commentyeah i gotta admit this song is really cool! not really sure what its about though... the guy has left her or something - maybe he was killed? i think she is telling of how she will always love him even though he can't be with her anymore and everything reminds her of him and the time that they danced together in the summer rain. dancing in the rain with the person you love is a really memorable moment!

General CommentNice song, like this one - such a weird feeling when you listen to it, like mysterious or something. I think Dynamatt you are right about the song, pretty straight forward I think.

    "I can see my baby
    Waving from the train
It was last time that I saw him
    In the summer rain"

    Pretty much the conclusion...

I think it's about her loved one is going away for a war, and he died in the war. Go check the video out on youtube, it's so so sad.

i agree with th1rte3n, thats pretty much it: guy goes to war and dies, but no matter what she's the only one she'll ever love -
"Every night and every day now
Though I know you've gone away
Somewhere in my heart I'm always
Dancing with you in the summer rain"

i've been away from her for nearly 18 months now. everytime i hear this song, it haunts me

General CommentI love this song from Belinda Carlisle. I was just a kid when the song came out, and now by looking at the lyrics and hearing it again after more than 20 years, I just can't stop listening to it.

Belinda Carlisle brings Betty White's Lost Valentine movie to life in this song, Summer Rain. She speaks of the love and bittersweet sadness of being a military wife/girlfriend who has to grasp the reality that she would be alone holding onto her memories when the train comes to get her love away from her. She describes the train as being a military train so he is definitely military and has to go away to do what he does, and she knows that she may or may not see him again. She clearly understands that nothing is guaranteed in the military. That is why she creates this almost nostalgic memories for her to hold onto when he's not there.

General Comment@madgaunbabe finally ! Yes! I was just about to write up this big long story but then seen you had already figured it out.
Hes been deployed. Its the last time she saw him. So she always remembers dancing with him, in the summer rain! Beautiful song! Truly well written and sang beautifully
