"Summer Night City" as written by Benny Goran Bror Andersson and Bjoern K. Ulvaeus....
Summer night city
Summer night city

Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in a park
Summer night city

In the sun I feel like sleeping
I can't take it for too long
My impatience slowly creeping
Up my spine and growing strong
I know what's waiting there for me
Tonight I'm loose and fancy-free

When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
Lots to take and lots to give
Time to breathe and time to live

Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in a park
Summer night city

It's elusive call it glitter
Somehow something turns me on
Some folks only see the litter
We don't miss them when they're gone
I love the feeling in the air
My kind of people everywhere

When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
And tomorrow, when the dawning
And the first birds start to sing
In the pale light of the morning
Nothing's worth remembering
It's a dream, it's out of reach
Scattered driftwood on the beach

Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in a park
Summer night city

Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in a park
Summer night city
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in a park
Summer night city
Waiting for the sunrise

General Commenti like it very much. I associate this song with Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I don't know why. I think it's about sun and beach, sunset or dawn in a big city, like Miami. Something like that, I think

General Commenti always heard "walking in the moonlight" as "f***ing in the moonlight"

My InterpretationAs a composer I love the song, chords and melody. At first glance it does seem to contain an immoral message. However, the lines close to the end read this:

    And tomorrow when it's dawning
And the first birds starts to sing
In the pale light of the morning
    Nothing's worth remembering

    It's a dream it's out of reach
    Scattered driftwood on the beach.

Scattered driftwood is far from beautiful and peaceful. I believe it is a warning.

My OpinionI enjoy ABBA's music. This particular song though I have a bit of a problem with. I believe that there IS a message of an immoral nature here.

"this giant dynamo"?... What is that?

Also the phrase "Walking in the moon light..." DOES sound like a clever way of actually saying and masking the phrase: "F***ing in the moon light"... And I'm certain that is what people hear.

I see a lot of this kind of masking of meanings in much modern music. This disturbs me because music has great power to sway peoples beliefs and behavior.
