"Things Goin' On" as written by Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Robert Rossington....
Have you ever lived down in the ghetto
Have you ever felt the cold wind blow
If you don't know what I mean
Won't you stand up and scream
'Cause there's things goin' on that you don't know

Ask them why they spend lives across the ocean
Ask them why they spend millions on the moon
Well, until they make things right
Lots of people gonna be uptight
They better make some changes pretty soon

They gonna ruin the air that we breathe why'all
They gonna ruin us all bye and bye
Telling all you beware
I don't think they really care
Think they just sit up there and just get high

Have you ever lived down in the ghetto
Have you ever felt the cold wind blow
If you don't know what I mean
Won't you stand up and scream
'Cause there's things goin' on that you don't know

If you don't know what I mean
Won't you stand up and scream
'Cause there's things goin' on that you don't know

General CommentSounds like the corruptness of the government to me.

Too many lives they've spent across the ocean.

    Sending people to war^

Too much money been spent upon the moon.

Focusing upon moon travel when we have problems here on Earth

They're goin ruin the air we breathe

    Pollution

General Commentclose but not right. as the title obviosly states--its about the ghetto. the lines about sending too many people over the ocean and too much money on the moon refers to the misuse of the governments focus and loot that could of been spent on fixing the ghettos. the line about ruining the air is referin to how people blame shit on people in ghettos and i like the part about how "i think they just sit up there and just get high" shows the way people regard people i ghettos. good song. i dig the piano

General CommentGreg whites aren't the only ones fucking things up and since you apparently don't know the members were white its not talking about whites fucking things up its more like the rest of what you said politicians don't care and also what aniland and freebird said but no it doesnt say ghetto in the title but its one of the first words in the song your comment here and in Saturday night special makes me wonder if you even know what your saying

General Commentthe title doesn't have the word "ghetto" in it. the song is about how the white man has f-ed things up and really doesn't care. neither the citizens nor the politicians. "just sit up there and just get high" is talking about presidents and congressmen who have a coutry club attitude, who don't give a whit for the common people.

"things going on that you don't know" is obviously a reference to secret government shenanigans.
