"One Of Us" as written by Benny Goran Bror Andersson, Bjoern K. Ulvaeus and Aleksej Anatolevich Kortnev....
They passed me by, all of those great romances
You were, I felt, robbing me of my rightful chances
My picture clear, everything seemed so easy
And so I dealt you the blow
One of us had to go
Now it's different, I want you to know

One of us is crying
One of us is lying
In her lonely bed
Staring at the ceiling
Wishing she was somewhere else instead
One of us is lonely
One of us is only
Waiting for a call
Sorry for herself, feeling stupid feeling small
Wishing she had never left at all

I saw myself as a concealed attraction
I felt you kept me away from the heat and the action
Just like a child, stubborn and misconceiving
That's how I started the show
One of us had to go
Now I've changed and I want you to know

One of us is crying
One of us is lying
In her lonely bed
Staring at the ceiling
Wishing she was somewhere else instead
One of us is lonely
One of us is only
Waiting for a call
Sorry for herself, feeling stupid feeling small
Wishing she had never left at all
Never left at all

Staring at the ceiling
Wishing she was somewhere else instead
One of us is lonely
One of us is only
Waiting for a call

General CommentThis song brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it.. I guess you had to have been in the situation to fully grasp the meaning of what the Abba were trying to say..This song is about a couple who were so much in love but suddenly, one of them felt, it is still too early for a serious commitment..s/he wanted to explore life more, see more people, and expeience what they did not yet.So this person had to call things off, thinking it was for the best of the couple (realistically for her own selfish best). And they break up. Time passes and she starts getting what this whole life is about and she knows how stupid she was to let go of her true love. She regrets what she did, she cries, she spends the nights lonely wishing for a miracle to happen and nothing happens of course. Even if he knew, it is too late usually. Not because his feelings would have changed (could be the case), but because time changes people and no matter how connected they arein the heart, one's outlook to life, experiences and everyday happenings just make us new evolving people every day. It's like the poem of Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken".

General Commentit is what it appears to be, someone had a deep love but didn't think so, wanted more fun times, more wild loves, thinking that was the best way to fun. when it was over she realised she made a gigantic mistake but it was too late to fix it. so now she's crying in her lonely bed, staring at the ceiling, wishing she were somewhere else instead.
