Welcome to the second reel glad that you can make it
We thought your fate was sealed it's not what we expected
But you punch above your weight and you're stronger than you look
And the ending's not the same they changed it from the book

I'm the boy with the bubblegun
I'm taking aim
I cannot hit to hurt or cause you pain
If words could kill I'd spell out your name

It's time to kill the king it's written in the scripture
See what tomorrow brings got to get a bigger picture
So forgive me forgive me for I am born to be what I must be and I must be

The boy with the bubblegun I'm taking aim
I cannot hit to hurt or cause you pain
If words could kill I'd spell out your name
I'm the boy with the bubblegun
The boy with the bubblegun
I'm the boy with the bubblegun with work to do
If songs could kill this one's for you

General CommentIts a dig at himself.......whatever he writes songs about will not change anything in the world. The bubblegun would be a useless, ineffective weapon....like words

General Commentthis song is so powerful when performed live. you really get the feeling that tom has reached his limits with this person and wishes he could do something other than talk about it.

General CommentI always find it a shame that the verses don't come upto the level of perfect understated bial of the Choruses.

I wonder if it was aimed at someone in particular and if they know it's about them?

General Commentit's the boy with the bubblegun, and not with the bubblegum, like the title says, so Tom_999, it has nothing to do with children choking on bubblegum.

I think thelastnarrator is right about this song. And Itekei is also right.

General Commenti love the two lines
"If words could kill I'd spell out your name"
    and
"If songs could kill this one's for you"
he's reached the end of his tether with this person - it's kind of scary how much hate comes across in the lyrics. but also frustration - he can't do anything and he can do as much damage as a boy with a bubblegun. he wishes that songs and words could kill (and we all breathe a sigh of relief that they can't...)

General CommentI'm not certain about this song, but I vaguely remember hearing news stories about children choking on bubblegum and suffering to death. It may have something to do with this song.
