Compete, compete, do it for the boys
Empty barrels make the most noise
You're always on the move
You've always got something to prove

What the fuck are you fighting for?
Is it because you're five foot four?
You better be happy with what you got
You'll never get anymore

You laugh at a man when he tries
You're trying to make up for your size
To you life is a rivalry
Keep a step ahead of me

Small man, Big Mouth

General CommentIt's pretty obvious what he's saying. It was actually about a specific person (lot's of MacKaye's lyrics -- especially early on -- dealt with things within the samll DCHC scene itself) but like moe said, we all know people that this applies to. SMall people (physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.) who try to compensate by being aggressive assholes.

General CommentSo precise, isn't it? Everybody's met the type of guy described in the song, and the chorus's just so funny.

General CommentI think it has something to do with napolean , he's short, he did alot of battling "compete compete do it for the boys" to win public favor.
