Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up
And has left you with no warning
It's not always gonna be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this my love is up
And must be leaving
But it's not always going
To be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays at night time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good
At arriving at the right time
But it's not always going
To be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

good olde george! he really was a great songwriter. it's just a shame that some people didn't realize it sooner. he really did live in the shadow of lennon/mccartney throughout his music career. he did not write in the same style that john and paul did, but even so, he was a terrific musician. rest in peace george!! atmp.

These are the most beautiful words for bad/sad events. They've helped me along with friends, and life, and this is just beautiful.

Surpirsed John and Paul rejected this song for The Beatles album (White Album).

George came back though and used it as his first album title, proving John and Paul wrong yet again.

OK, perhaps it is about the Beatles demise, but since it is written during the time of the White album this isn't necessary true -- or at least not the whole truth.

George was a very spiritual man and his music often reflected his quest for enlightenment and sought to share it with his listeners. In this way we can hear in this song George reminding us that all good thing must come to an end. A lesson in humility and appreciation of things for what they are -- a reminder not to attach oneself to material goods or to this life.

Yet, this song is also a reminder that bad things don't stay around forever either. A reminder not despair or get lost in sorrow.

Overall, the lesson is in the title "All Things Must Pass" --impermanence is the truth of universe that we all must abide by. Everything changes --- that is the only thing that does not change.

This song has helped me through many life disasters and tragedies. And seems to be the truest feelings of George. All things will pass. Time, life and karma will wipe away all things, and new ones will grow from the pain. Brilliant!

Anyone who knows anything would note on the cover of "ALL THINGS MUST PASS" he's sitting on a stool surrounded by 4 fallen dwarves... No, he wasn't bitter.... : )

This song is just the best song EVER rritten by George Harrison. The equal to anything ever written by Lennon/McCartney solo and as songwriting partners.

This song is extremely applicable to everyday life, not just the Beatles breaking up, although that's possibly what it was inspired by. Everything bad comes to an end, it's just a matter of time, so hang in there.

Not sure this is about the beatles. He demo'd it for the other fabs but it was rejected. Its on the Anthology 3 album. Why did they reject this sond and keep Piggies.... weird. I guess it didnt fit in with the mood - not sure...

So Ill go with the lover has left you but life will get better meaning. Its a beautiful song. I love the live version he did on VH1...

Piggies is a more politically satirical song, so John would probably have preferred that over this song.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
