"Octavo Dia" as written by Lester A. Mendez and Shakira Isabel Mebarak....

A Bill Clinton o a Tarzan

General CommentThis song has a couple of meanings or atleast that's what i think. Though it has one meaning which seems to be the correct one. I think in this song she sings about us "humanity" and about how we have forgotten all about God and how corrupted we have become. if you haven't heard this song by reading it you may think she sings it in a bad mood but on the contrary she sings beautiful one of her best songs actually.

General CommentI dont really like seeing this as a 'religious' song but its more like she's trying to convey how our lives are being run by politics and the media alone. That we arent staying true to ourselves. I agree with Tracy though, its something hard to explain.

General CommentIt is a religious song.

She talks about God, and how he comes back on the eighth day (the octavo dia ;) ) and he sees that his world that he created has been destroyed by the humans he created.

And then she talks about the media, moving people around like 'chess pieces'.

On the Live and Off the Record DVD, the performance of this song is accompanied by a overhead projector with George Bush and Hussein playing chess. So yeah, it is about the media and politics in a way but it's mostly about religion.

General CommentI miss these old shakira. This is such a powerful song, one of the deepest meanings I've ever heard.
This is By far her best song.
It's definitely about God, but not in a religious way, but in the way that everybody praises celebrities and politicians just think they can move us as toys or something like that.
It's about how literally insane humanity has turned. And God should be disappointed of what we made of this world. And how we wouldn't realize any of this until is too late.
