"The Ballad Of Johnny Butt" as written by Mike Davis, Richard Anthony Selga and Kevin Burr Roach....
Johnny Butt was a man with a real strong will to survive
He just keep pushin' on even though he was barely alive
So shoot it up shoot it up it just don't matter
Johnny says he wants go do it
Says he wants to kill a cop

We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome
We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome

So Johnny just keep pushin' cause the streets are yours
There'll come a day when all that shit won't matter
So shoot it up, shoot it up, it just don't matter
When you're resisting anyway

We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome
We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome

So Johnny just keep on pushin' cause the streets are yours
There'll come a day when all of that shit won't matter
So shoot it up, shoot it up, it just don't matter resisting anyway

We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome
We've got a brand new dance
It's called we've got to overcome

General CommentThis song doesn't have anything to do with Bradley or his addiction. It's a cover by another Long Beach band called Secret Hate.

General CommentThis song is a cover of a song from a small-time band called Secret Hate, who was also from Long Beach and existed around the same time as Sublime.

The song is similar in title.

General Commentyou left out a few lines.

    "...
    So Johnny,
    just keep pushing,
    cause the streets are your's.
    There'll come a day
when all that shit won't matter.

    So shoot it up,
    Shoot it up.
    It just dont matter,
    When your resisting anyway.

We've got a brand new dance called we've got to overcome.
We've got a brand new dance called we've got to overcome.

    So Johnny,
    Be careful,
    Dont push it.
    The streets are your's.
    And there'll come a day
when all of that shit won't matter.

    So shoot it up,
    shoot it up.
    It just don't matter.

General CommentU GUYS, this song means that He was addicted to the heroin that a man named johnny butt sold to him, and that he was trying to warn johnny to not be so cocky about how he would never get arrested because some day he will get caught if he keeps up his ways, remember

"So Johnny, Be careful, Dont push it. The streets are your's. And there'll come a day when all of that shit won't matter."

when he says that it wont matter, he means that if he does get arrested, then he would have done all that hard work for nothing.

General Commentbrad did not write the lyrics to this song. i have the sublime self-titled songbook and it gives credit to the authors of each song and brad, bud, nor eric are credited for this song. I dont remember who the authors listed are but it is not sublime.
