"The Wonderful Future" as written by and Turner/maida/lanni/taggart/coutts....
She builds her own satellite from an old rusted chair. She leaves this old world behind and the things that's she cares.
Maybe she's gone, but it won't be for long, what do I know? Maybe she's found what we all dream about, what do I know?(oh)
She beautiful and wonderful. I can't compare. It's not that fair.
She builds a strong alibi from the future that's here. She needs to know I'm alive and that I'm flesh and I tear. Maybe she's wrong, but I want my, my own. What do I know. Breasts of silicone, with a touch of her soul.(oh) She's beautiful and wonderful, and I can't comapare. (ohhhh) It's not that fair.(ohhh)Oh they're, oh they're malicious lies, they're.(do, do)

General CommentThis is just a great song. Great music, a hummable guitar part, passionate lyrics, unfortunately I have no clue what they're about but hey, I can still like the song. One of my favorite olp songs for sure.

General Commenti love this song, it's so calm and flowy, and i love the way he takes notice of some girl out there who's absolutely beautiful but doesn't know it.

General CommentI've always pictured her "satellite chair" as a certain chair the girl sits in to create (painting or such) and it gives her a temporary escape from reality. The ability she has found to tap into her talent is something beautiful about her, something other people envy (something we all dream about).

General Commentthis is a great ending to spiritual machines. In my opinion, all of that record tells a story about the rise of power of machines. In the beginning, they're stupid, just doing whatever they are told: "no matter what im always right there behind you." The machines get more advanced, at first being used for good things, but then 'losing their innocence' and gaining free will. They take over humans: prosecute and control them until the climax at "all my friends." "if you believe" offers a way out through the morals of religion. "The wonderful future" sums up the whole album and gives it a positive spin.

In this song, the girl is a metaphor for the human spirit. The idea that no matter how advanced computers get, we will always be morally one step higher than them because all humans possess a concience and knowledge of right and wrong that can't be destroyed (i dunno how much i believe that, but i think thats what hes saying). In the song, the human spirit finds ways to grow and survive even when left with almost nothing (a lawnchair).

General CommentThe whole cd is modeled after the book "The Age of the Spiritual Machines." The book is, well, kinda frightening, but at the same times is quite amazing. I think that OLP did an amazing job in their interpretation of it.

General CommentBrilliant song. think its about a girl who Raine admires so much, but she is metaphorically ahead of the world, and he wants her back sooo bad... so he makes himself believe she will come back to save him from "the age of spiritual machines" or something... :p

General CommentHere's how the second verse goes:

    "She builds a strong alibi
    From the future that's here
She needs to know I'm alive
But I'm flesh and I tear
    Maybe she's wrong
But I won't mind my own
    What do I know?
    And their silicone
With a touch of her soul
    What do I know?
    She's beautiful and wonderful
    I can't compare
    It's not that fair"

General CommentThis song is about the main charactor in the book "Spiritural Machines"
    "She builds a strong alibi
    From the future that's here
She needs to know I'm alive
But I'm flesh and I tear"

PS the hidden track is taken from the book and I believe add meaning to this song
