"Family" as written by and Pierce Ray Pettis....
Can you fix this? It's a broken heart.
It was fine, but it just fell apart.
It was mine, but now I give it to you,
Cause you can fix it, you know what to do.

Let your love cover me,
Like a pair of angel wings,
You are my family,
You are my family.

We stood outside in the summer rain,
Different people with a common pain.
A simple box in that hard red clay,
Where we left him to always remain.

Let your love cover me,
Like a pair of angel wings,
You are my family,
You are my family.

The child who played with the moon and stars,
Waves a snatch of hay in a common barn,
In the lonely house of Adam's fall
Lies a child, it's just a child that's all, crying

Let your love cover me,
Like a pair of angel wings,
You are my family,
You are my family.

General CommentThis is another one of my absolute favorite songs...I think its about how no one can truely stand alone. Everyone needs someome they can turn to for help. this is a song about admitting a need for support from those around you.

General CommentThis song seems to be about a child's funeral:

"We stood outside in the summer rain
Different people with a common pain
A simple box in that hard red clay
Where we left him to always remain"

    and

"In the lonely house of Adam's fall
    Lies a child, it's just a child that's all"

She turns to her family and finds comfort and support during a time of deep sadness and loss. A very sad song, but beautiful and with a core of fundamental hope and comfort.

General CommentThis song was originally written by Pierce Pettis, He wrote it about the death of his dear friend Mark Heard and the community of artist that his death affected. That though not by birth they were his family. The first verse is addressed to God, the Second is laying Mark to rest in Macon GA (that hard red clay), the third is an affirmation that even the Christ, God incarnate need a human family. A beautiful beautiful song.
