Back to life, back to reality
Back to life, back to reality
Back to life, back to reality
Back to the here and now, oh yeah

Show me how
Decide what you want from me
Tell me maybe I could be there for you

However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How (however)
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?

Back to life
Back to the present time
Back from a fantasy, yes
Tell me now, take the initiative
I'll leave it in your hands
Until you're ready, yeah

However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me? (Oh, well, how do you want me?)
However, do you need me?
However, do you want me? (However)
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you need me?

I live at the top of the block (top of the block)
No more room (no more room)
For trouble and fuss (no, no, no, there's not)
Need a change, a positive change
Look, it's me writing on the wall
Ever, do you want me, yes

However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me? (Oh, oh, oh)
However, do you need me? (Tell me, now, how do you want me to be? Yeah)

Back to life, back to the day we had
Let's end this foolish game
Hear me out, don't let it waste away
Make up your mind, so I know where I stand

However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you want me? (However)
However, do you need me? (Do you need me?)
However, do you want me? (Need me)
However, do you need me? (Tell me now)
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? (Tell me, now, how do you want me to be? Yeah)
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me? How (oh, oh)
However, do you want me?
However, do you need me?

WHAT? Not ONE comment on this song of songs? Now I KNOW that the world is doomed, and deserving of condemnation and judgement from a holy and righteous God.

This song seems to be about returning to Reality with a capital "R" & getting present to the "here & NOW", Stepping out of the fantasy (the ego/collective delusion). Surrendering to God (The Godforce, LIFE, Universe). Being available to do God's Will. God's Plan. Life's Flow:

"However do You Want me, However do You need me"

This song is just beautiful! Powerful gorgeous voices... great transitions... really truly amazing work. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Back from a fantasy and back to life; to reality; Back to the present day we have. (Life seems to be an illusion; a place of make-believe or possibly deceit; and the singer wants to be real). ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I live at the top of the block. (Maybe this is some slang I am unaware of. I dunno. I don't get out much. The word block has so many meanings and remains the key word for interpretation. Block could mean a place to be molded; perhaps a particular place in life; a sailing term implying a new direction; all of which offer a slight different interpretation.) ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Look it's me writing on the wall. Hear me out, don't let me waste away. No more room for trouble or fuss. Need a change, a positive change. Let's end this foolish game. (The singer’s thoughts are on full display. Life is wasting away, and something good is desired. A change is sought for sure.) ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The chorus is:
However do you want me However do you need me How, however do you want me Also, Decide what you want from me. Tell me maybe I could be there for you Yeah tell me now, take the initiative. Show me how, I'll leave it in your hands until you're ready. Make up your mind so I know where I stand. (These words are a sign of trust, Looking for guidance, or direction; or a new way… it is a huge surrender of some sort.) ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Therefore....This song could easily be regarded as a religious surrender. It could be regarded as one looking for a commitment from another. It could be regarded as self-motivation where one realizes that life has been an illusion and a new realistic approach is indeed needed. Truly amazing song - LOVE IT!

My friend and I did like tiles of our favourite 80s albums. We were limited to 16 or 20 selections.

My mate put Club Classics Vol. 1 in his.

I said no. You can't put that in.

He argued about how good it was. He used words like iconic.

I agreed with most of what he said. It's a decent album and it never fails to make me happier than before I played it. Reminding me of better days. I had my hair. I had my youth. I had optimism. I had opportunities.

Shall I tell you what I didn't have?

A proper version of Back To Life. As rich and beautiful as her voice is. I wanted the beats. I wanted the bass. I wanted those strings.

I went to London to buy a Tshirt from the Soul 2 Soul shop. I have to admit, I was disappointed that Jazzie B wasn't actually in the shop. I pictured him, stood in the doorway, imparting words of wisdom to passers by.

Those in the know, stopping to shuffle around to the break beats before moving on.

Those not in the know complaining about the acapella Back To Life on Club Classics Vol. 1

I really liked what little I heard of Volume 3 till my tape player mangled it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
