"Work Hard" as written by and Martin/wilder Gore....
You've got to work hard
You've got to work hard
If you want anything at all

Nothing comes easy
And that's a fact
Nothing comes easy
But a broken back

Nothing comes easy
It never will
Nothing comes easy
But a broken will

So work hard

General CommentThis song might be a bit tongue-in-cheek. It says "you've got to work hard if you want anything at all" but I think there's a hint of sarcasm in there - indicating that he's not at all convinced that working hard all his life will get him anywhere because "NOTHING comes easy, but a broken back".

General CommentAnd reading the line "But a broken will" further confirms my suspicions. This means the man's view on life is not a pleasant one - one of injustice and how he will never get anywhere.
