"The Pod" as written by Jeffery Dimpsey, Tim Lash, Bryan St. Pere and Matt Talbott....
morning scatters in and i am steady like a drug feeling out this
one
she wakes up smashed as hell and steadies her ass against the
rail
and bends before the pounding rain
she had the widest bright ideas all along about my love
and i need this f**king fix and i beg her
to pick from one of the billion ways to feel no pain
the morning after bends reflected and i can hardly stand the way
this
whole thing makes me seem
she climbs out from a dream with lungs hardly as she screams a
stereo scream
and bends before astounding rain
she's got a system made of metal and magnet bits inside a brain
she opens her box of tricks and begs me
to pick from one of the billion ways to feel no pain
she had the widest bright ideas
that all the world would sleep away until the nightmare ends
everyone is on wait, wait on the end, only uptight, love

General CommentI love this song, it is very charged... To me it's about a jaded relationship, but I may be off...

General CommentThis song makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time. As far as the meaning goes, I think its a love song (I think all the songs on YPAA are love songs, thats why it has a picture of Matt's wife in the sleeve). Basically, I think its about being in love with this girl but thinking that the girl is somehow too good for him, that's why I think the use of "a MILLION ways to feel no pain" in the first verse and then "a BILLION ways to feel no pain" in the second verse is so clever.

General CommentI think this song might have something to do with drugs too..im not sure if its the writers drug problem or the girl the songs about drug problem..

"And I need this fucking fix and I beg her to pick from one of a million ways to feel no pain "

"She opens her box of tricks and begs me to pick from one of a billion ways to feel no pain "

at first i thought the fix would be her love and their relationship being the way he wants it but then i thought it had something to do with drugs, im not sure though..just a suggestion.

General CommentMy guess is that this is a relationship based solely on drugs and alcohol and partying... "She wakes up smashed as hell..."
Also, each of them is giving the other the opportunity to feel no pain (be high) "I beg her to pick from one of a million ways to feel no pain " and then her to him "She opens her box of tricks and begs me to pick from one of a billion ways to feel no pain"

General CommentWho knows what these guys are talking about sometimes. They are so poetic its hard to make sence of it.
This song is definately about drugs though.
    "I need this fucking fix"
"She opens her box of tricks and begs me to pick from one of a billion ways to feel no pain "
