"New Life" as written by Thomas Rogers Stevens, Christopher John Thorn, Shannon Hoon, Brad Smith and Glen Graham....
Suddenly everyting is fainting
Falling from a broken ladder's rung
There's a jolt exhilarating from the phone I'm holding
I hear the words of what I'll become

How eager the hands that reach for love

'Cause now there's a new life to behold
And its the biggest part of my life to unfold

'Cause now she's telling me she'll have my baby
And a faithful father I am to be
When I'm looking into the eyes of our own baby
Will it bring new life into me?

Deep inside must defy arrangement
I've been a stumblin' from the startin' blocks 'til now
And I'll always try to justify the way I've been behaving
Should I teach one not to know how?
How to live in a world we live in now

'Cause there's a beautiful life to behold
And its the biggest part of my life to unfold

'Cause now she's telling me she'll have my baby
And a father figure I am to be
When I'm looking into the eyes of our own baby
Will it bring new life into me?

Oh please
Oh please
Oh please

Bring new life
Bring new life
Bring new life into me

General Commentthat makes a lot of sense, actually.

he hopes her birth will turn his life around.

General CommentI think it's 'fading' rather than 'fainting' in the fist line, though i suppose it makes little difference

General CommentI am not having any kid's anytime soon but I like to wonder about what it would be like to interact with my own kid, child or baby.

I feel like the song, that I ve been "Stumbln' from the startn' blocks". I've probably also been tumbln' from those blocks as well. I wonder if there were a pair of eyes that could shame me enough to bring out the nurturer in me.

General CommentThis song is so sad you can really feel how he hopes that the birth of nico would help him recover and take hold of himself...
He even tried to do it before his OD. It always makes me want to cry for him and his loss not what we had lost when he died (one of the best song writers that I ever heard) but the loss of being with his child that he so much wanted to be with.
amazing and so so so sad
