"The Chemicals Between Us" as written by and Rossdale....
I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways
I want you to surrender
All my feelings rose today
And I want you to remain
The power of children can amaze
I'll try not to complain
I know that's a pisser baby

The chemicals between us
The walls that lie between us
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonelier place
Than lying in this bed

I want you to remember
Everything you said
Every driven word
Like a hammer, held, to my head

The chemicals between us
There is no lonelier place
Then lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonelier place
Than lying in this bed

The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
Lying in this bed

We're of the hollow men
We are the naked ones
We never meant you harm
Never meant you wrong
I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers

The chemicals between us
The army of achievers
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonelier face
Than lying in this bed

The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
The chemicals

The chemicals between us

General CommentReally seems to be to be talking about the demhumanisation of love, breaking it down into simple hormonal consciousness and nothing more. All human interactions are nothing more than reponses to pass on blind genes. Frightening thought.

General Comment... reminds me of the "guy who got away"
how i unintentionally hurt him... yet things were going so well...
it could go both ways too... i could want him to remeber every sweet thing he said to me... OR, the tables can be turned.. and he could want me to remeber all teh sweet things i said.. or even the things i said that hurt him... *sigh*
i wish i could break this brick wall :x

General Commenti think that this song is not only about communication problems, but specifically talking about the ending phase of a relationship..that it feels empty. when he say "there is no lonlier place/than lying in this bed" he is saying that basically the relationship has just amounted to meaningless sex. the "chemicals" is basically all that there is left in the relationship..no real love anymore. it's pretty sad.

My Opinion@SunPisT! & a few others pretty much got it right IMO. At that point (at the "end chapter" of a relationship - what's basically left is the chemicals between us (which may've been what brought them together to begin with - but wasn't enough to sustain it indefinitely).

Whether "the chemicals" refers to the basic hormonal signals that message & attract other mammals, or perhaps even those other prolific "chemicals" (such as "party favors") that also often act to (initially anyway) bring two humans together.

Often "animal" attraction - or common substance use/abuse as a bond between 2 people - isn't quite strong enough to keep people together forever. Not an expert (but am well experienced at least) - just a hopeless Gemini offering dual observational possibilities

General CommentMy interpretation of the song is that the song is about an everlasting bond between two lovers in which one is dead. To me the song is very spiritual.
    I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways - the dead lover wants the remaining lover to remember how transcending their love was.
    I want you to surrender
    - dead lover wants remaining lover to surrender to the love that is still felt between them.
    All my feelings rose today
And I want you to remain
The power of children can amaze
    I'll try not to complain
    I know that's a pisser baby
-Dead lover wants lover to remain living life now that she has had a child and knows how amazing and life changing children are. Says he will try not to be jealous or hurt that she has had a child with someone else, he knows deep down she wishes she had a child with him. Hence the child being an annoyance because she is not in love with the father.
    The chemicals between us
    - everlasting love, love is a chemical and I don't believe it just disappears when we pass away.
The walls that lie between us
    - the wall between the physical world and spiritual.
    Lying in this bed
    - is the dead lovers grave.
    The chemicals displaced
    - the physical chemicals of love have now been replaced or have taken on a new form.
    There is no lonelier place
    Than lying in this bed
    - waiting in the spiritual world for his lover to return.
    I want you to remember
    Everything you said
    Every driven word
Like a hammer, held, to my head
    - wants her to remember all the spoken words of love she confessed to him. He is madly in love with her and will never forget.
    The chemicals between us
    There is no lonelier place
    Then lying in this bed
    The chemicals displaced
    There is no lonelier place
    Than lying in this bed
    The chemicals between us
    The chemicals between us
    Lying in this bed
We're of the hollow men - the dead lover is talking about the spiritual realm and no long being a physical entity.
    We are the naked ones
    We never meant you harm
    Never meant you wrong
    - spiritual world can be frightening when u don't understand and can cause some negative things.
    I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers
    - dead lover is saying he would like to thank his lover's former lovers and their former lovers for all leading the two lovers to each other.
    The chemicals between us
    The army of achievers
    - referring to how when the chemical of love is actually experienced (created)it will never die and will always come to a head.
    Lying in this bed
    The chemicals displaced
    There is no lonelier face
    Than lying in this bed
    - sad dead lover waiting for his remaining lover to return to him.

General CommentThe song is about the difference between love and lust. He talks about two different partners.
The first partner. "All my feelings rose today" his feelings rose after he saw her, he is physically attracted to her. "The chemicals between us" the hormones they each give off. "The walls that lie between us Lying in this bed" after they have sex they don't have anything to say to each other because they only have that physical connection. "The chemicals displaced
    There is no lonelier place
Than lying in this bed" the chemicals are different after they get past the lust. There is no lonelier place then the bed, because they don't not feel a connection with a human other then through sex.

The second partner. "I want you to remember Everything you said Every driven word Like a hammer, held, to my head" he finally found love but she isn't ready for it and dumps him. He is hurt from the break up.
"The chemicals between us There is no lonelier place Then lying in this bed " the girl isn't there anymore he misses he human connection they had.
    "The chemicals displaced
    There is no lonelier place
Than lying in this bed" the chemicals changed.

    "We're of the hollow men"
We are the naked ones" we are the men who don't feel and don't care about love, but we are the ones that are "naked" and vulnerable when they can not have a human connection.
    "We never meant you harm
Never meant you wrong" he apologizes and says he never meant to hurt them but he now realizes that it was for the best that the events occurred as they did.
    "I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers" he wants to thank all of this lovers for opening his eyes.
