Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
I never thought too hard on dying before
I never sucked on the dying
I never licked the side of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
You've got your hands over your ears
You've got your mouth running on
You've got your eyes looking for something
That will never be found, like a reason
And I don't need a reason
I never thought too hard on dying before
I never thought on the dying
I never held the hand of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
But you've got to
Give me the shot
Give me the pill
Give me the cure
Now what you've done to my world
I never sucked on the dying
I never licked the side of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
You've got your hands over your ears
You've got your mouth running on
You've got your eyes looking for something
That will never be found, like a reason
And I don't need a reason
I never thought too hard on dying before
I never thought on the dying
I never held the hand of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
But you've got to
Give me the shot
Give me the pill
Give me the cure
Now what you've done to my world

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
the song is about AIDS, the song 'Suggestion' is about sexual harassment the guitar world is one with kirk hammet on the cover, has a fugazi song tabbed out as well as songs by Black Flag and DK...if i had it around i'd tell you what month/year
@fuzzyslippers you are right. It speaks to the ignorant attitudes around the AIDS epidemic -- that because it was sexually and blood transmitted, the people getting it the most -- gay, people of color, and also women, did not matter. \r\n\r\nLook up Ryan White, who was a little boy who caught AIDS from a blood transfusion. His story was sad, but out of his suffering came the Ryan White Act
D--- it. I was wrong.

I read in Guitar World that the song is about sexual harassment and HIV/Aids. sounds correct to me
hey, what guitar world month/year was that in? peace out
I dunno, it doesn't seem to jive to me. It seems like the guy, the "narrator",if you will, is depressed and getting down and thinking about death for the first time, and he doesn't want to be down any more, so he wants some happy pills.
clearly this song is about being depressed. hes never been this way, or felt this way or licked death that way. he wants happiness "got your eyes looking for something that will never be found- like a reason [to live?]" the shot/pil thing is probably refering to anti depressants or anything to cure him ...hence the name give me the cure.
Or something with which to kill himself. That would be the ultimate cure. That's certainly a different side of dying.
The song is about the HIV/AIDS virus. It was debuted at an AIDS benifit in D.C. and was introduced as a song about AIDS.
i think this song is about how america seems to have a cure for everything, and the narrator hasn't thought too much about dying, or otherwise being ailed by some disease before, he hasn't felt this way, but in being bombarded by all the advertisements for different pills in combination with the news broadcasting more reasons to worry about dying of cancer or some other disease, it suddenly seems "real" to him... so he just wants to be cured of something he has been convinced he has... this is how i percieve the song.
^yeah thats true theres always some magic pill people want you to take to cure you of some 'disease'. The way that it says 'licked' 'feeling' and 'sucked' dying is really uneasy. Kind of disgusting but really powerful imagery.
